things that made happy today:
- breakfast with randie for two hours this morning. pure pajama-wearing, bad-coffee-drinking fun.
- the incident at the aforementioned breakfast where big man came over and said "hey! i haven't seen you in a dog's year! where have you been?" ...yes, he said "dog's year"... now, to me, this means that randie and i are seven steps closer to achieving our ultimate goal, which is to be friends with big man. (seven steps because one step didn't seem drastic enough)
- rainbow sprinkles on the cake at dinner
- a st. patrick's day card from my grandma. this made me happy for several reasons - one, in the place where a return address goes, she put a sticker that says "irish for a day" with shamrocks. that's adorable. two, the card had glitter on it. three, she wrote "hi lauren... see you soon. love, grandma" ... which i thought was great for some reason. also, the postmark thing from the post office is a robot from robots. even though i may have mentioned that i wasn't overly fond of robots -- i was still kind of excited to see rodney fender on my envelope.
- FINAL DRAFT! (caps and exclaimation point deliberate for emphasis on excitement) ... final draft is the most magical software ever. you see, when you're writing a screenplay, there's a very specific format (like, 26 spaces before character name ... 19 before dialogue...) which gets very tedious to format on microsoft word, plus if you want to edit, you have to reformat. so, today, max futterman came to install final draft for me. it's the best thing in the entire world. it magically formats screenplays...not to mention the myriad of other cool things it does! randie and i have been having a "AH! that's so COOL!" day with it -- we're kind of like little kids on christmas. actually, i think it's the best thing since earthworm jim for sega genesis.
- earth worm jim: i think there have probably been a lot of great things since him -- but the memory of him has made me quite happy, and therefore he does belong on this list.
-
this power rangers website ... in an attempt to figure out what tommy the green ranger's zord was, i stumbled upon this website. it's a pure text-book style history of the power rangers. ...amazing.
- zordon: at the bottom of that website, there is a picture of zordon. patrick says that zordon looks like my dad. now, last time i checked, my dad isn't a head floating in a tube...but that's just me.
- the quesadilla, apple, seltzer water combo i experienced at an impromptu excursion to ritazza. a nice reunion of flavors.
- the word "kapeesh" still makes me happy
- it was sunny today, and sort of warm
- the hub had broccoli cheddar soup
- i talked to henry on the phone
- topher grace had a very comical roller skating number in that 70's show today
- monique and garret don't know that they are going to be both mine and tara's icons.......yet
- sitting around and talking to randie about amazing families we know for a long time this afternoon
- hearing mxpx - which i haven't done in a long time
- talking like paul kaplan even though i've never met him
- crayola crayons continue to make me happy
that's my list of happy things for today. :o)
