Just a quick hello...
It's Friday - and even though we got a snowstorm last night, it's sunny outside. Be happy about it!
Today Tara and I did our presentation for Cinematic Expression ... All That Heaven Allows, directed by Douglas Sirk... it went fairly well, I thought...but Rachael Zerner asked us crazy questions as though we were on a "Name That Movie Moment!" game show. She also told a joke about Thoreau that I didn't seem to understand. I laughed, none the less... and I continue to find it amusing that she has inside jokes with herself about things like Henry David Thoreau and Lillian Gish. But, I do like her.
Now I'm sitting here typing, and in a little while I'm off to film Evan's movie..wherein a pie will be thrown in my face. I'll let you in on a secret: Ever since they used to throw pies on "What Would You Do" on Nickelodeon, I've always thought it looked fun to have a pie thrown in your face. ...I'll let you know if it is in fact as fun as I think it is going to be.
Random decision that goes against everything I believe: I just decided that ":o)" should be a punctuation mark. Not one for professional use, such as term papers or non-fiction novels...but moreso a conversational puncuation mark. I think that with the growing availiablility of communication through typing (such as this journal, emails, instant messaging, and text messaging) we should have specific conversational puncuation marks. For example, if I want to say "It's sunny out today" and I want to express that the sunnyness makes me happy, I use an exclaimation point to express that happiness: "It's sunny out today!" But, the exclaimation point - which is a great and powerful puncuation mark - seems to be used too frequently in our conversational typing. We use it to express so many things - excitability, anger, frustration, happiness, surprise... shouldn't there be something somewhere in between? :o) could easily express that I am happy about the sun, and saying that it's sunny made me smile. But, no supplemental puncuation should be needed! So, operating on this theory... "It's sunny out today :o)" would be a complete sentence. Yes!
I hope you're all having a good day :o)
