Summary: Donghae performs his solo at the Super Show, Kibum listens on the sides.
When Donghae sings his solo Kibum leans his back against the wall and slowly slides down, carefully watching his sore leg, until he’s sitting uncomfortably on the grimy backstage floor, cramped in a corner. The leg is making quiet protests at the sudden change of position, but he chooses to ignore them, knowing well that there will be a price to pay. But there will be plenty of time to think of that later, whereas right now every heartbeat counts.
Kibum closes his eyes and allows his head lull against a forgotten prop. He breathes in, breathes out, slowly and steadily, listens to the music, to the echoing voice not quite strong enough to drown out the screams of the audience, and thinks, take me away, please, even if it’s for a fraction of a second.
It feels like the bottom of an ocean, with ten billion tons of water above his head, and yet he’s floating along, light as a feather, fragile as a memory.
Three minutes pass quickly - the shortest three minutes of his life - and Kibum forces himself to open his eyes, to come back to reality, but the feeling remains. You used to sing all of your songs to me first. But that was then, and this is now.
Someone rushes past him, mumbling an annoyed and meaningful sorry, but Kibum doesn’t move, doesn’t reply.

He looks up and is only mildly surprised to see a thousand fish swim above, gentle sunshine pushing through the waves and illuminating the school, bringing out a million colours, a thousand rainbows melting into the water.
