I kind of wish the States were like the prefectures here in having really distinct culture from place to place and numerous food specialties and specific festivals depending on the state you're in... We have that to a certain extent but I mean, what's North Dakota famous for? Bordering South Dakota? Cripes, they've got bison on their quarter. (Don't bother checking the wiki; I already have and it's, heh, unimpressive.. what did you expect - it's North Dakota.) Even the slowpoke "country" Oita has quite a few things people here are proud of that draws in tourists from around Japan.

I guess I can't complain though... There can only be one Japan in this world, after all. :P
