I have two fics waiting in betaing/editing limbo. I'm really excited to post them but I think it's gonna be tomorrow at the earliest that they'll be ready.
So in the meantime I thought I'd share two resources that have been helping me write.
Wordcount spreadsheets for 2014 These are amazing spreadsheets that keep track of how many words you write. You set a yearly target and the spreadsheet will automatically work out how many words you should write each month and each day. You can also customise it so that one month you're writing more or less words. There are little graphs and pie charts to tell you how well you're doing. It's really great for motivation.
Also these spreadsheets have different character themes, including Supernatural themes! There are Dean, Castiel and Sam versions. I have the Sam version and his steely gaze is there each month, compelling me to write more. Hahah.
I really recommend them.
Write or Die This is an online application that motivates you to write. Basically you set a target for how many words you want to write in a specified period of time. Then you start writing, but if you stop writing for too long the program will either gently remind you to keep writing, play a horrible sound or start deleting your words and won't stop until you start writing again.
I've been using it in the punishment mode, where it plays an awful sound if you stop writing, and seriously, the sound of a siren or a baby crying is great to shock me and keep me writing.
It's really useful if you have problems with self-criticism or an overly nasty inner-critic. It makes you get that first draft and then you can worry and nitpick over stuff in the editing stage.
There are lots of other features in the new version I haven't tried that look great, and there is also a desktop version that you can purchase. Seriously, I would really recommend it for productivity.
