Guiding Light, that’s a wrap.
And you’re looking for her through the crowd and chaos, because your heart feels like it’s being squeezed and shredded all at once. You don’t want this to end. You thought you’d be here forever. You thought you had found a home with these people. But really, you thought you’d have her.
When your hand touches her back from behind, she turns around. And you can’t hold it in anymore. She’s teary eyed, and you’re crying, and you’re both leaning in until your mouths find connection. It’s brief, and it’s soft, and it’s more than you ever got to show anyone. And you wish you had more time. Just a little more.
So you cling, and so does she. Your fingers curl into her back and you stretch to press your cheek against hers. And her arm is around your waist, pulling you tight. And, dammit, you wish this stupid pregnancy pad wasn’t in the way, because it doesn’t feel right.
She’s wiping your cheeks, and you’re angry with yourself because you’re such a cry baby. And you wish you could be as strong as she is. But now that you’re looking at her without the blur of fresh tears, you’re finding that maybe you’re not the only one breaking down.
And you turn your head, because you just need to gather yourself. But her face is against your cheek and your ear, and she’s pressing her lips there, and you almost lose it again.
She tells you that she already misses you. And you want to tell her how you feel. But you never get the chance, because the cameras across the street already figured it out.
