Olivia twirls Natalia around the kitchen floor with a loud laugh before pulling her close again. The radio is playing some silly pop song of the moment that will just bleed into the next one. They are rocking their bodies together with the beat, murmuring teasing words, and for a flash of a moment Natalia feels a sense of deja vu.
It wasn’t so long ago that she was in this same situation with Gus. With their hands resting over his heart, Olivia’s heart, she’s aware of the answering beat in her own chest, and she knows that it really was a lifetime ago.
The thought settles a calm weight on Natalia, and when she stretches up onto her toes to firmly presses her lips against Olivia’s, she doesn't know how she hadn't done this sooner. A hand is pushing into the curve of her lower back. It feels steady and sure but the trembling fingers stroking her cheek betray the bravado.
They sway back and forth so slowly to the rhythm of their mouths, the radio forgotten. They move to the beat between them.
