UGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I want to go on Thursday night and see the midnight showing of The Dark Knight. SO BADLY.
I never loved Batman, comic-wise as a kid. The movies did it for me more, but it could be because of that Tim Burton style they started in . But I ALWAYS loved the villains in the comics, and not the movies. The movies made them goofy when they never seemed goofy to me at all.
Batman villains were that much more fucked up compared to other DC or Marvel villains. When they got the ball rolling, they were sadistic, vicious, cruel, and I was sucked in as a kid. Superman? Pshaw, Lex Luthor wasn't nearly as bad as The Joker. Not a chance.
I think it's because Batman as a whole doesn't rely on the superhuman. Batman has no special powers, he has gadgets and technology. He's not a superhero, he's a vigilante. And while he's my least favorite protagonist in the comics, his villains were at the top of my list. They are far more real in their messed up motivations and circumstances.
Batman Begins wasn't nearly as dark as I had hoped it would be. But The Dark Knight? Oh god yes. If it's anything like it looks, I may pee myself with glee.
I NEED TO GO. :(
