There are some days that make me want to give up on all of this Watcher business and just go back to England and settle down to do nothing but complain like all the other members of the Council.
...
Willow has informed me that the Council could discover this using the internet. Blasted machines. If it were an actual book then I'd be able to write whatever I bloody well pleased then, wouldn't I? Can't "hack" into one of them. I shall have to edit my thoughts later. For now, as if it weren't bad enough that I've been pursuaded into using this dread machine to write down my thoughts, I've also got to contend with a Slayer who can't get her head out of the clouds for long enough to concentrate on anything beyond boys, and a team of researchers who can't seem to research anything past each others' lips. Fortunately, this new girl Faith has arrived in town and seems to be picking up Buffy's slack rather nicely. She also had some very lovely things to say about my age and how I don't look it. Of course, this isn't at all influencing my opinion of her and I am still concerned that she may be a little bit...I think rash would be the best way to put it. And of course Buffy is getting the job done when it counts, but that doesn't excuse the fact that she is diligently ignoring her training. She did well against both the Master and Angelus, but it's clear from her handling of both events that she is not ready for what she'll have to face in the future. I really must talk some sense into that girl.
Particularly after what she told me tonight. She informed me that the demon she and Faith faced down at the Bronze had something interesting to say about her and her "goodness quota" I believe were her exact words. Seems that this demon believes that she's the evil one and he is...or rather was...on the side of good.
Normally I would brush this off as her overreacting. After all, it seems to be a sign of insanity, and it wouldn't be the first time we've encountered insane demons. In fact, it seems like something Drucilla might have said. Still, she was very insistent that we look into the situation and so we put Willow and Oz right to it.
As I said earlier, however, their idea of researching was quite counterproductive, and so I sent them home. It seems that I have a long night ahead of me.
