Not all Christians are intolerant. There are many Christians that are accepting of gays. This is especially true of younger people who really are very tolerant. Many Christian Churches welcome gay people and even perform gay weddings. We are in a changing time and people are very open minded these days.

Yes, there are some intolerant hateful bigots out there, but they are getting fewer in numbers every years. In Psychology, we learned that bigots and racists who claim a religion, actually ignore a large part of their religion. They claim to be Christian, but they don't practice what they preach. These people use their religion to justify a bigoted agenda. Christianity is supposed to be about forgiveness and love for all people.

The quotes from above are from the Old Testament (The Jewish Bible). The New Testament, which is what Christianity is all about, has canceled out the old covenant in the Old Testament. They no longer follow the old Jewish customs such as eating Kosher food, animal sacrifices, and other Jewish rituals. Jesus Christ was hated by the Jews. He said it was ok to eat any food. He said that the death penalty no longer applied to adulterers, prostitutes, and people who worked on the Sabbath. Jesus brought a message of forgiveness. Jesus was criticized by the Jews for associating with and helping the sick, the prostitutes, and so forth.

Christianity's message was that the Jews had gotten it all wrong. They twisted the religion into strict laws that had gone astray. Christianity abolished the laws set up by the Jewish religion and set up a new religion that was based on forgiveness and love for all people.

Some bigoted people have hijacked the Christian label and are using it for their own agenda. In reality, many Christians can see this and many have joined more liberal churches that are tolerant of gays. The bigots have lost their influence. You will find many tolerant Christians these days.
