Yep, it's an update time. Not much really going on, getting all my crap together and ready to go to the UK. So that means some people need to prepare to be visited...we have to get proof they actually exist ;P.
Anyway, got
stephiny's present, now it just needs to arrive at my house. A few weeks back I also got new luggage. I had some cash left over from my tax check and decided to invest in a piece of luggage with FOUR wheels. I have a feeling getting it around the Underground and train station will be MUCH easier this go around. And it's all kinds of awesome! I am going to invest in a luggage tag (most likely rainbow) just in case the airport decides to send my luggage to Bermuda or something.
Steph and I are also finalizing our plans for the time there, we do plan to get into as much trouble as humanly possible without me getting kicked out of the country *smirk*.
Vacation is a little over a month away and it's still to far away. I definitely need a reprieve from daily life before I end up punching every stupid person I come into contact with (and...that seems to be every other person these days).
I'm also super excited that this year Pride has finally, FINALLY been moved to a bigger location. The last 3 or 4 years there's been thousands of people crammed in a teeny tiny space, INCLUDING all the stands with free stuff in them (and seriously, I have enough condoms to last me the next three lifetimes). They are moving it like a block away from where they originally hold it but the area is so much larger I'll actually be able to LOOK at the booths without being pushed away by the massiveness of the crowds. Woohoo! I always like to look at the little shops but it's hard to see everything where it's swarmed like bees on honey. Not sure if I'll take the dog again this year or not, she only stayed long enough for the parade last year because it was a million and one degrees in the shade, so not so great outside for the little pooch.
Anyway, movie and game stuff. First I'll start with
Clash of the Titans. It was entertaining. Not Oscar worthy at all, but I expected mediocre acting and a popcorn style movie. That's pretty much what I got. They definitely did lean towards making things slightly more gross to appeal to that demographic of people. The eye thing made even me squeamish.
I will admit to being WAY glad all the guys were wearing underwear underneath their tunics, because those had to have been some of the smallest Greek tunics I've ever seen in my life. Seriously even just standing it was barely covering their butts. Not super pleasant!
Otherwise, I wish I could remember more from the original. I barely remembered bits and pieces at the best of times, I just remember the cheesy stop motion animatics (giant scorpion, medusa, pegasus) so on and so forth. The bits and pieces I remember I do think they've altered the story quite a bit (but I could be wrong).
Unfortunately this wasn't Sam Worthington's best contribution to his acting skills. He was pretty wooden, or Perseus is just that boring. Or it was just the directors way to pay homage to the original and have every good actor phone the performances in or ham up ever single moment on screen (and yes that goes to Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes...I suppose this means Voldemort is Hades now).
Overall it's entertaining. I refused to see it in 3D since the movie wasn't originally SHOT in 3D or even with 3D viewing in mind, it's all upconverted to 3D which in my mind can't be all that awesome.
Now on to God of War. Yeah I'm late to playing this video game. I went and bought the God of War I and II collections for PS3 (and is it sad that the workers at the game store know me by first name basis?!). I have to admit the game is ultra fun, and then at times ultra frustrating to the point I worry for my PS3 controller (and since I only have one and replacements are 40 bucks, it's a legitimate concern). Seriously the programmer for some of the puzzles has got to be a sadist. There's just NO room for error in some of the puzzles. Now I'm all for a challenge, even something that's timed and designed to put players on edge. I'm not however a fan of being put on edge and unless I do it 100 percent perfect it's a big giant death for me. Not cool. We won't even talk about how many times I fell climbing a spinning spike. Pain. In. Ass.
But the story for the game is pretty good. It definitely makes me want to lug out my Mythology book again. However I'm not convinced this will translate well to the big screen (and I've seen rumours of this happening). Mostly because Kratos, the guy you play, barely speaks at the best of times, and then screams dramatically in the air the rest of the time.
As for God of War II, so far the puzzles haven't been so 100 percent perfect yet, but I've only just started. Granted the story seems like a retread of the first movie, though instead of going after Ares I'm going after Zeus. We'll see though. The controls for the second game are much easier. I died so many times in one scene because I had to us the R2 button to open a door...which isn't really easy to do that quickly! It was an awkward design and I was SO glad I finally got the right door open.
That's it. Next weekend I should be seeing How to Train Your Dragon which looks entertaining. Also next month I should be picking up Dragon Age since I've heard a LOT of good things about that game. And until then I leave you with this....

Castlevania Lords of Shadow Trailer. Sometimes I think I fly my geek flag too high, but I SO can't wait till a date is set for release on this game *bounces around*.
