back in slo . . .
kara is right . . . livejournal is lonely. so, instead of doing my cultural anthropology reading, i shall update instead. woohoo.
- i'm back in slo. all my classes seem cool. here a little bit about each:
* cultural anthropology: my professor is so cool. she's this old grandma-type woman who is technologically inept. i love it. her laptop wasn't working on the first day of class, so she picked it up and held it to her ear and kept pressing the power buttom to see if she could hear it turn on. funny. the class is going to be really intersting. we'll be learning all about different cultures and watching awesome movies and yeah. sweet.
* intro to public relations should be awesome. it's being taught by a professor that only teaches every so often. when he's not teaching, he works at hearst castle in their pr department. he works for the state of california parks and rec. he was even their press secretary at one time. how awesome is that? i'll be learning from someone who is actually in the field. he's really cool.
* chicano nonfiction literature should be sweet too. the professor, victor valle, used to write for the la times. he won a pulitzer! he is an active author, and is currently working on a new manuscript. we'll be reading some of his works in class. one of them is a book exploring 5 generations in his family, through cooking! sooo excited!
- christmas break was good. i went to the wild animal park and universal studios with my family. both really fun times. christmas was awesome. i finally got an ipod. but it was a bad hard drive. so i took it back and got another one. i named it iggy, and it's working great. i think it's the name. haha. i worked for two weeks at brengle's winter camps. that was cool for the most part, except for getting sick. i bet a lot this break with this guy jesse from work. we'd be shooting baskets and have bets riding on it. we went bowling and had bets on that too. my competitive side has been dormant lately . . . jesse has awoken the beast. haha. i love it.
- on monday, i had to go to the emergency room. i slipped on a wet curb (one of the painted ones) and landed with my leg under me and my ankle twisted. my mom was here since she drove me back up here, so she took me to the er. i've never been in the er before. it was an adventure. i got x-rays and it turned out that i onle had a bad sprain. they gave me an air splint, which i wore all day yesterday and it made my foot bleed. so i went to the poly health center today, where i found out that my ankle is healing quickly, so instead of that goddamn splint, i get to sport my awesome high top converse which i love and an ace bandage. i rule. haha.
- i love the tv show "scrubs".
- today is mine and leo's 6 month anniversary. that's a long time, but it's cool. i love him. i think i'm getting a little stir crazy, but that's a story for another time. really, it's not a story because everything is cool. i love him.
- my mom said that i was brave in the emergency room and was so good for not freaking out. i'm so glad my mommy was here.
- in honor of me being brave, i bought a new beta today. reef died in september, and i thought i had greaved long enough. my new fish is deep blue with some purple. i bought aqua jewels for his bowl. he stands out awesomely. i named him maverick. he has a gimpy fin. he's owns. haha.
hmmm . . . i'm sure there's more to say. i wish i could have seen more people over break . . . i wish it ws still break. it totally wasn't long enough. but that's ok. kyri's coming to visit tomorrow and staying till sunday, jesse's coming in a few weeks, and leo's coming in february. yay for that. i'm going to try to go to santa craz to visit sydney, and then we want to go to san fransisco and visit kristin, so yay for all that. right now, i'm going to go talk to my fish. haha. later days!
