Death of a Slayer c_h_o_s_e_n

“Twinkle, Twinkle little star, how I wonder where you are. If you did not twinkle so, how could I see where you’d go?”

I made my way through the alley, my eyes as alert as ever, looking and looking like a feline for its mouse.

“Twinkle, Twinkle little star, how I wonder where you are. In the dark blue sky I keep, and through your curtains often peep, for you never shut your eyes, ‘till the morning sun does rise.”

I had been looking for this little precious for two weeks now. She was not going to get away from me that easy. I could smell her fear. The poor darling trembled with it. How I loved it. Miss Edith was most pleased by it as well. Ahh, there she was. Her fear began to grow, and I began to giggle and sing again.

“Twinkle, Twinkle little star… now I’ve found you… Oh yes precious… there you are.”

I could hear the pitter patter of her little heart racing away like water through my fingers. She had been most naughty. Only thirteen and already quite the slayer. Too bad her mommy and her daddy were not here to protect her anymore; they had been so tasty with their screams. And her watcher… he had been so scrumptious, filled my tummy all the way up. Now she was all alone, with nowhere to go. She was scared, and it made me laugh all the more.

She had been quite ingenious, trying to stake me as I slept. Trying to stake me all the way to Sunday, but I awoke before she could and I was able to push her off. She did hurt me a little, and I liked it. Daddy used to hurt me. But not anymore. Not since he became the Angel beast. And Spike… we used to play so many games, and we would hunt and kill until we were merry, but he went and got himself a soul, all for her! Now they were both gone, and I was all alone just like this little girl. Poor, poor precious.

“Aww, precious. Come here; let Drusilla give you a kiss. I promise I won’t bite too hard.” I could hear her moving again. Changing locations. She was so young and so sad.

“You are only delaying the inevitable, darling. Come out, come out where ever you are…” I said getting closer to the place where she was hiding.

And finally, she went into action. Her small frame lunging at me, throwing fancy kicks and punches. She was strong, but too small. I laughed. I punched her back making her fall backwards. But she regained her balance quickly. Stake in hand.

“What are you going to do now precious?” I asked.

But she said nothing. Her eyes misty pools ready to pour. She had lost every one she ever cared for. She was alone like me. She came at me again. Punching away, tears running down her eyes. I couldn’t help but feel sad for her. She was about to die. She made one last attempt to drive the steak through my heart and I slapped it away from her. And grabbed her by the neck pinning her against the wall.

“Shh. There, there precious. I’ve got you now.” I said as I dug my razor sharp nails in her throat making her blood begin to flow. Her tears mixing away with the blood. She tried to kick, but I pulled her towards me and pushed her back hard against the wall again, pinning her harder than before, resting my body into hers. She began to cry and if my hand weren’t on her neck she would scream too.

I unleashed the demon in me, and her eyes widened. Her big dark cow eyes that called moo! I licked the side of her face.

“This will only take a second.” I cooed in her ear as I bit into her.

She barely made a noise. Her blood was powerful. Filling me up, animating every limb in my body. I could feel her growing limb and I stopped. She still had enough strength to stand on her on. I licked my lips and looked at her. I looked at her with my hypnotizing gaze. I put her down and she just stood there. Looking at me and I smiled. So young and so dead.

With one swift movement of my head I sliced up her throat from ear to ear. Her small frame falling backwards. I caught her before she hit the floor and put my lips on her throat. I began to feed gain, letting her blood fill my mouth deliciously. How I savored every last drop of it. I finally let go and I was satisfied. Her body lay awkwardly in the ground. She looked like a little ragged doll. Poor darling. At least she was no longer alone in the world.

I turned around and made my way through the alley. My mind as open to everything around me as ever. There was death in the air. Things were happening in the world. But the night was young and Miss Edith was bored again and after a few moments so was I. The stars began to whisper in my ears. And I began to hum…

Twinkle, Twinkle little star, how I wonder where you are. In the dark blue sky I keep, and through your curtains often peep, for you never shut your eyes, ‘till the morning sun does rise. Twinkle, Twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are.
