"Oh, I am corrected. You have already caught your death of cold, or close to it," her smile was ready as she answered. A smile, she found, oft times distracted people from watching her eyes as she looked into them to find the source of their illness.
Before she could use her Sight, the man spoke. A northerner by his speech, Albiannach most like, but his manner of dress was very odd to her eyes, as if he was trying to make a toga out of his mantle. "Tis safer than some places I have been, I thank you, and may yet be more dangerous than I wish," she chuckled at the vagueries of Fate, "as I do not know where 'here' is."
His tone did little to lighten his next words, and Gwynne's expression sobered after he spoke. The earnestness in him radiated outward, and while she did not dare to make light of his concern, it did seem to her that he was in no condition to meet anyone meaning him harm on his own.
"I am called Gwynne, and I have a small opinion of those who would take advantage of a sick man on his own." Her words were meant as much for any of the lords of autumn should this game be of their devising, the cruel and malicious creatures. She held out her hand to help him up, "I can at least keep you company and see you safe to your door."
"Aye, tis jus' the ague, I'll do." His words were broken off by yet another round of harsh coughing which he buried in the damp wool of his kilt as he rested his forehead against his knees. As the coughs subsided he lifted his head again, and looked up at her.
"I donnae know this place. Twill sound like I'm mad, but, I went tae sleep in one place, and woke here, It doesna look like anywhere I know." His gaze scanned the field around them. He knew every inch of Broch Tuarach, but none of what he now saw seemed even vaguely familiar.
"That may be, but sitting out in the cold and damp is not the best way to mend." Gwynne looked at him as he coughed, his own body's reactions underscoring her words.
She felt her spirit sink a bit hearing that he didn't know this place either; for a moment she dared have the hope that this wasn't some trickery being played upon her. "No, not mad. I opened a door and found myself here. It is no place known to me, either. I would think it some witchery, save it feels like nothing I have ever encountered."
"Aye, ye maybe right, but, seein's how I donnae have much say right now..." His words were lost again to a spell of coughing. As he caught his breath he continued.
"I dinnae think it could be witches brung me here, thought maybe, I'd passed on, but, I dinnae see ghosties either."
