So today I had the opportunity to finally sit back and think about Sarah Lawrence in that I had probably the worst hangover of my life this morning and canceled all responsibilities until 7:30. What is it with this place, then? Sometimes I feel like I’m reading way too much, writing too many papers and overwhelmed in that I have more work than is humanly possible for someone to complete. At other times I feel lost and miss the direction I had in high school - read this text, do well on the test, and you’ll go somewhere in life or at least in the right direction. I don’t have direction here - nobody does- and the direction is supposed to be self activated by the student, and too often it isn’t activated by me. So what? What am I doing here?
I’m learning and I’m breathing, I’m writing and I’m living and before you dismiss this as cliché bullshit from some fortunate, white liberal arts brat just you know that I KNOW I’m an incredibly fortunate white liberal arts brat who at his current state is so overwhelmed by pretentiousness and clichés that he thinks he’s suffocating but finally understanding everything he once though he understood at the same time.
Sarah Lawrence College. What a fucked up, brilliant place.
