Nightmare Royal

So it started out simply enough, we all volunteered for an experiment. Or mayhaps we didn't volunteer, but the government will do what it wants. It was a zero gravity sleep study, so they would put us on a plane and we'd go unconcious and then the next thing I knew were more dreams. A giant golden ball.

I remember Paul being there. I remember FroD being there. There were two of him, and since people in my dreams tend to be a bit ambiguous I think that it was probably FroD and Dan. I also remember Stephanie being there. On the fourth day I shared my lunch with her.

The study was alloted two weeks. We were all staying in some stainless steel facility, with large glass doors. The food was strange. Before we got on board the plane, everyday, they would inject us with something. Sometimes they would make us do it ourselves. I remember once someone else giving FroD his shot and fucking it up... he forgot to mix something before he injected it into him... I don't remember seeing FroD after that. It was green and it bubbled, the part of the mixture that was left out.

As we walked down the silver corridors I could see skelletons of everyone else. There were codes in the bones, and for some reason, Paul's entire skelleton was glowing red. He was the only one like that.

I don't remember how many people participated. I do know that there were at least nine. I was number eight. There was a bald man, who looking surprisingly like a mix of that short villan from harvey birdman and Spider Jerusalem. He was number zero.

It progressed for four days. On the fourth day I shared my lunch with Stephanie. I don't remember what day I watched as FroD's injection was fucked up. I remember constantly passing out on a plane.

I remember that on the fifth day, there were people missing.
On the sixth day, more were missing.
On the seventh day, they activated my program and I finally understood why people were missing. I don't know why the delayed in activating the entire group... maybe so that we would have an advantage, know the terrain... I remember that it was this day when I spotted the kobold-like creature. I heard a voice in my head, distinctly female, telling me that it might be a good idea to get behind something and not move. I don't remember how I got out of there. I think that more of them came.

I was running down a corridor, one stacked with boxes and those wooden things that they pile salt on... and on the other side of the boxes I saw this girl, a redhead or a brunette being attacked and dragged off by this giant neongreen-brown spider. She was screaming and her skin started to change colors. I kept going... I couldn't do anything for her. It isn't like we had weapons.

Everything stopped. It was like I was staring at a computer screen.. I could clearly make out...

insert scribble for randomized letters. I forget the names or whatever the hell was printed next to the numbers.

I assure you that I was number eight. I don't know how I knew, but I was number eight.

I woke up. There was no one around. I don't even remember getting back on the plane. I was back in the dream, or program, or whatever it was. I spotted zero. He gave me a golden mini disc. He was climbing through a pile of something... from behind me, a giant fish cyborg thing was approaching... I scrambled away and it shouted something, and it locked on to zero because he was closer... I watched it tear him to pieces....

I think that the cyborg thing was Paul.

I didn't know what to do with the disk, but I started running... and I was on a beach. Then I came out of the dream/program. The woman who was running the whole experiment was there. I was sitting at a table. She was congratulating me and I was referred to only as number eight. I asked what happened to everyone. I was informed that they were dead. Yes, all of them, dead.

Then there was the swirling golden ball. I think it was some kind of wishing device. I never found out. It's the last thing I remember from before I actually woke up, when my alarm went off.
