You people are amazing. Absolutely amazing. I love you and your hilarity and the way you are always so wonderfully reassuring when I need it. But most of all, I love the fact that, when I jokingly ask for fanfiction about Jeremy Clarkson failing at university, people will actually write it.

I have such insane good Internet friends ( Read more... )

my starter was named after the rival's starter, then the first one after the starter, and so on like that.

That may be the most brilliantly ridiculous idea I've ever heard. Switching out would be so confusing.

When my brother wanted all three starters in Blue, of course, he had to start a couple of games to trade the starters over to me before starting his actual game. On both occasions, I traded him a Pidgey called 'David', because I find Pokémon with mundane names inexplicably hilarious. He got his revenge by trading me a Pidgey called David and a Rattata named Ian when the time came for him to reclaim his starter.

My brother doesn't rename his Pokémon most of the time. I find this terribly tragic. I mean, all right, renaming Pokémon can make trying to find the right one in the box incredibly confusing (looking at the box I have open now, I have no freaking idea who 'Ninja' and 'Riskia' are, and I only know 'Retcon' is Mewtwo because it's level seventy), but still. Renaming! Awesome!

(...ah, Ninja is a Magnemite! WELL, THAT MAKES NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. And Riskia is Jolteon.)

My facorite one was always Godzilla the Oddish, because she already had an Oddish and was only trading me something that I didn't have. I've been trying to remember some of the other naming tricks I used. I think in Sapphire I may have called my Beautifly Dustox and vise versa, and if I didn't I'm going to do that later.

Hang on.

Hey! My Metitite is named Ian as well! And my Bellossom is Belle. It was the most logical thing I could think of. (It helped me keep from getting it confused with the two dozen I've got in Silver.)
