Fanfiction: New Experiences (Death Note, Light/Ryuk)

Nov 01, 2024 13:18

I've been trying to think of an author's note to explain or excuse this, but I think all I can do is drop it in front of you and hope you enjoy it.

Title: New Experiences
Fandom: Death Note
Rating: 15
Pairing: Light/Ryuk, slight Light/L implications
Wordcount: 1,000
Summary: Ryuk shrugs. “It’s, uh... I think the rule says it’s neither permitted nor possible for us to have sex with humans.”
Warnings: Includes brief and non-explicit mention of a necrophilia fantasy.

Light drops onto his bed, falls back on top of the covers. Rests the back of his hand across his closed eyes.

A part of him is on edge, of course; it always is when he’s doing nothing in particular. He’s alone; he should be taking advantage of that, researching criminals, writing in the Death Note. But he needs to look after his health if he’s to lead the world into a new future, and that means he needs to take time to rest.

“Oh!” Ryuk exclaims. “I just remembered another rule. You wanted me to tell you about those, right?”

Light opens his eyes at that, takes away his hand. He’s always interested to learn more about the Death Note. “What is it?”

“I mean, it’s not really about the Death Note,” Ryuk says. “It’s more just about... being a shinigami. And it’s kind of embarrassing.”

That’s a little disappointing, but not disappointing enough for Light to lose interest. “Tell me.”

“Uh,” Ryuk says. “Well, we’re not allowed to have sex with humans.”

Not what Light was expecting to hear. He lies there for a moment, contemplating that. Contemplating the fact that this rule apparently occurred to Ryuk with Light sprawled on the bed in front of him.

“Rem must be disappointed,” he says at last.

“I mean, it’s not physically possible for us to have sex, either,” Ryuk says. “So it doesn’t really make much of a difference.”

Light frowns up at the ceiling. Sits up. “What makes you say it’s not possible?”

Ryuk shrugs. “It just isn’t. It’s, uh... I think the rule says it’s neither permitted nor possible for us to have sex with humans.”

Light’s never been able to let an obvious inaccuracy slide. “If it weren’t possible, there wouldn’t be any point in forbidding it.”

Ryuk gestures at his own crotch. “We don’t have, y’know, any of those things you guys get so weird about.”

Just as well. Ryuk is seven and a half feet tall; if he had a proportional equivalent to a human penis, he’d probably cause Light serious damage.

Light catches the thought, examines it with curiosity. He’s not just thinking about this as an abstract problem of how shinigami and humans might have sex; he’s thinking about how he might have sex with Ryuk specifically.

“And?” Light asks. “You obviously have hands and a mouth.” Not a mouth any sane person would want near anything sensitive, but that’s beside the point. “Of course it’s possible for shinigami and humans to have sex. We could prove it.”

Ryuk is always staring. It’s hard to judge whether the quality of his stare changes at all, but he seems to grasp Light’s proposal. “Uh, you want me to have sex with you?”

“I want to teach you how to think for yourself,” Light says. “Which of these ‘rules’ exist for a reason, and which are just pointless restrictions? Your rules are lying to you. I want to demonstrate that.”

Silence. In the lull in the conversation, Light finds his fingers itching for his pen again.

Hopefully Ryuk will agree to this; at least it would be a brief distraction from the constant drive to write in the Death Note. It’s coming to feel uncomfortably like an addiction, and Light hates the idea of being controlled by his own impulses. He’s the one in control here.

“I guess it could be interesting?” Ryuk dances from foot to foot, his wings fluttering. It feels like a strangely human expression of uncertainty, if an exaggerated one. “I could get in real trouble for this. You know shinigami can see the human realm, right?”

Would they be watching this? Probably; who else in the world could possibly be more interesting than Light right now? A part of him likes the idea: the eyes of the gods on him, while he undermines their pointless rules.

“If they want to accuse you of sex with a human,” Light says, calmly, “they’d have to admit first that it’s physically possible.”

-
Light has no attraction to Ryuk, of course; he’s above such perversions. But there’s an ecstasy in knowing that he was right. That he could see through the deception in an instant and expose the lies of the gods.

There’s something interestingly alien about the experience, too. Light’s never had much interest in sex, but he’s interested in learning, and this is an opportunity to gain a new perspective on shinigami. He’s always found the various fluids involved in arousal repellent - he consciously tries to keep himself short of orgasm when he can help it - and he’s glad to find they aren’t a factor on Ryuk’s side.

Ryuk’s hands are inescapably inhuman; they’re hard, inflexible, like the carapace of a crab. There’s an element of danger in the claws that leaves Light a little breathless. He’s ordered Ryuk not to mark his skin, but a part of him almost wishes he didn’t have to.

There are those sharp teeth too, of course. Maybe he’ll allow Ryuk to use his mouth after all.

Ryuk’s face, when it’s pressed against Light’s hip, feels almost like human skin. A little leathery, perhaps, but close enough. But there’s no human warmth there, and Light finds himself jarred by the lack of saliva when Ryuk takes him into that horrific mouth.

Human, almost, at first touch. But cold, dry, uncanny somehow.

A thought crosses Light’s mind, just for an instant - would L feel the same once he’s dead at last? - and he comes so hard he finds himself gasping for breath.

-
“Was that okay?” Ryuk asks, afterwards.

Light almost laughs. He wasn’t expecting that to be Ryuk’s first concern. A god of death, anxious about his performance in bed?

But perhaps it makes sense. Ryuk must understand, by this point, that Light has surpassed him as a shinigami. Of course he would want to pay appropriate tribute.

“Better than I expected,” Light says, truthfully. He watches Ryuk for a moment, considering. “A human would want something in return. I suppose you’re not capable of orgasm?”

“Nope,” Ryuk says. “Oh! If I can ask for something in return, though...”

Light catches himself smiling. “I’ll buy you more apples.”

Ryuk cackles in delight. “Let’s do this again.”
