I Need You To Explain To Me What The Hell's Going On Inside Your Head.

I'm three episodes into the second season of Lost!

Jack's a mess. I really like him. I think I just have to admit it. When I started watching, I went 'I'm really going to like Jack, aren't I?' and then spent much of the first season trying to resist my destiny, but I'm admitting defeat. I like Jack Shephard and nobody is surprised.

Jack is a compassionate person who also sort of... resents everyone for needing his compassion? It's an interesting combination of character traits.

'Man of Science, Man of Faith': what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck

I naturally assumed that the opening of season two was a flashback and was completely unprepared for it to be someone inside the vault. Season two has blown my mind already and I'm only two minutes in!

Locke and Kate made intense eye contact while he was lowering her into the hatch, she asked 'what do I say if I need to stop?' and he answered 'stop', and it was strangely hot? Sort of intrigued by the idea of Locke/Kate now.

In light of that exchange, the entire scene where Locke is lowering Kate down the hatch feels like an incredibly tense, high-stakes sex scene. I'm into it.

(And then we get Locke tying Kate up in the next episode!)

emmzzi replied to one of my earlier entries to say 'Just ship everyone together now, it will save time later', and I'm taking the advice to heart.

Delighted that I admitted to myself that I liked Jack before he started crying, thus ensuring I could fully appreciate it.

'Adrift': given how he's tried to hold himself apart from the group, it's good to see Sawyer openly showing concern for Michael and Jin while the raft is burning.

Sawyer and Michael snapping at each other while drifting helplessly on the water is both painful and sort of great. I'm worried about Jin, though!

I always find Michael's backstory scenes really hard to watch. Poor guy. It's not like anyone's backstories are light, but just losing access to someone you love is perhaps easier to relate to than 'escalating series of bad decisions leads to you robbing a bank' or 'tricked into killing the wrong person on your revenge quest' or 'cursed by evil lottery numbers' (although I also find Hurley's situation very distressing! The evil numbers are scary!).

I love the detail of Kate grabbing a load of chocolate bars while making her escape.

I'm really liking Sawyer in this episode. There are some characters I find more interesting than others, but I think by this point I like pretty much all the survivors.

'Orientation': the plot just keeps getting more stressful and confusing (the timer constantly counting down to something unknown is really stressing me out!), but Jack is really losing it in this episode and he cries again, so I'm still having a good time.

There's - there's a lot going on, huh?
