The trouble with writing Aloy/everyone is that the girls are all 'hey, good lookin', up for a good time?' whereas the boys are all 'hey, good lookin', I'm an absolute psychological catastrophe', which means I'm much more drawn to the pairings involving the boys. But I don't want to half-arse the girls' scenes, or write Aloy/ALL THE BOYS AND ONLY THE BOYS. The struggle!
Anyway, here are some more thoughts on Horizon Forbidden West! I've retrieved AETHER and POSEIDON, and I've just started the DEMETER quest.
The contrast between the urgency of Forbidden West's plot and the non-urgency with which I'm playing is slightly ridiculous.
'The world's ending. You've got about four months to save it.'
'Wow, that sounds really bad. I'd better get as many collectables as possible before everything gets destroyed.'
I like the three Oseram showmen! I hope we get to see one of their shows. Also, Abadund is definitely in love with Morlund.
I love Aloy bonding with Stanley Chen through his datapoints, in a way, and then struggling to come to terms with the revelation that he's a Zenith.
It would be extremely funny if you just got a 'GAME OVER' screen after the sandstorm hits your hot air balloon.
Morlund going 'I wish I had Stemmur's words to thank you properly' is pretty cute.
Aloy meeting Amadis is very 'uh, hey, guess you're my girlfriend's new boyfriend, huh?'
Did Amadis and Nessa first meet while Nessa was disguised as a man on the battlefield? Did he fall in love before he learnt her identity? I rewatched Mulan last night, so this is strangely appropriate.
I find myself weirdly outraged whenever the game introduces a love interest for anyone who's into Aloy, i.e. for anyone. NO. ONLY BEING INTO ALOY ALLOWED. I forbid you to have any interest with a hope of reciprocation.
The first batch of Quen you encounter attack you outright. I started stealth killing the second batch and then went 'wait, shit, I just assumed these guys would want to murder me; what if they didn't? I don't feel good about this.' (They almost certainly did want to kill me - they were flagged as hostile by my Focus, and the mission objective said I had to fight them - but I still feel weird about just strolling in and starting to murder them!)
After I'd killed them all, Aloy said, 'Really wish these guys had just talked to me instead of trying to kill me,' while I was sitting there going 'WE SHOT FIRST, ALOY.'
Aloy updating Alva's operating system! I love Alva's nervousness at first, and then how excited she is by the prospect of new knowledge.
I got caught in a rebel trap and it was very embarrassing. 'Oh, what's this? An odd little structure full of Blaze?' And then they blew up the Blaze while I was looking at it and set me on fire.
