It's Pretty Confusing That This Series Includes Both A Yosuke And A Yusuke.

More Persona 4 Golden! I've just finished the first dungeon.

Both Chie and Yosuke are being strangely awkward around me the day after we watched the Midnight Channel. I hope they both saw me as their soulmate.

Ah, they didn't. Boo. Although Chie's having a sexuality crisis, which is also fun.

You know, if my television tried to suck me in and only failed because the screen wasn't large enough, I probably wouldn't then try to stick bits of myself into a larger television.

Yosuke seems like a good kid. He was so upset to realise Saki was unhappy working at his parents' shop!

Yosuke's voice acting is a lot better than I tend to expect of the PS2 era, too. And his little 'pulling his headphones down and tossing his head' victory animation is adorable.

'Don't hesitate to order me around,' Yosuke says to me. I already spent the entirety of Persona 5 despairing over my inability to romance a specific boy; is that going to be my plight in this game as well?

To be honest, I was expecting to spend this whole game resenting Yosuke for not being Ryuji, so this is a much better outcome than anticipated.

I really like the 'recognising and facing your own uglier thoughts and feelings' aspect of this game. And Yosuke's always so quick to assure everyone that it's okay, everyone has these feelings!

'Hanging out with women, going on dates with them, that's fine. Killing them? Not so much.' This young man is taking a principled stand.

Grinding is worryingly addictive in this game. It's also easier than it was in Persona 5, given the theoretically infinite availability of recovery items in dungeons. I had to work up a lot of willpower to actually finish the first dungeon, rather than just running around and fighting low-level enemies forever.

I can't trust Teddie. I've met Monokuma and I am programmed to be suspicious of weird bear mascots. (ALSO TEDDIE DON'T HIT ON YUKIKO, WHAT ARE YOU DOING)

Persona 5 really played on my weakness for stories about friendship, and I suspect Persona 4 is going to do the same.

persona 4, persona, persona 5
