Interesting conversation with a friend of my mother's over the weekend.
Mum's friend: I saw all these people in animal costumes coming out of St Paul's today.
Riona: Er, you mean full-body costumes, with fur...?
Mum's friend: Yes. I don't know what they were doing. Maybe some sort of fun run?
Riona: ...
Riona: Yes, that must have been it.
I've started a Danganronpa V3 replay! It's a game that rewards replaying; there's a lot about the beginning that makes more sense after experiencing the rest of it. And also, of course, there's the top-quality This Is A Serious Game About Murder dialogue.
Miu: Everyone knows that only pervs wear hats!
Shuichi: Leave me alone! I can wear a hat if I want to!
Miu: In a situation like this, I gotta find some meds!
Kaede: Medicine? Are you hurt or feeling sick?
Miu: No, idiot! I need strong meds cuz I wanna trip my fuckin' balls off!
Kaede: Wait... Whaaaaaat!? You can't use drugs to get high! You definitely shouldn't do that!

There's nothing quite like Dangan Ronpa. It's a tragic, gutwrenching story about teenagers being forced to murder each other, but it's also sort of a dating sim, and everything happening is completely ridiculous one hundred percent of the time.
It's pretty cute that Shuichi is always sticking close to Kaede at the start. He's nervous and she's the only person here he feels halfway comfortable around.
'Okay, on this playthrough I'm going to spend my free time with different characters,' I told myself, before going straight for Rantaro again. No regrets. This replay is really reminding me of how much I 'ship Rantaro and Kaede, which is a lot. (If you played the demo, you can get a bonus scene in which he paints her nails and it's EXTREMELY CUTE.)
I'm glad I managed to write a Rantaro/Kaede fic at last! Well, sort of. Maybe some day I'll manage something that gets a bit further than 'they just about touch hands'. How do you make romance happen? I've been writing for seventeen years and I still haven't got the hang of it.
(I put my Rantaro/Kaede fic up on AO3 and got a comment saying nothing more than 'its good' from the striking username 'irumavore69'.
