By the way, my friend who knows way more about Patrick Jane and his adventures than me has just suggested that Red Jack got his name from Apple Jacks (red jacks, green jacks).

Is there a Red Jack in the Mentalist? I thought it was just Red John.

What do I know? Brian was spouting remarks about him sounding like cereal. I get the feeling he doesn't like the Mentalist, after hearing more of his thoughts on it. (Apparently, Red John is a perverted name. Really? He's the villain. It's practically in the manual.)

The Mentalist is an odd show. There are a lot of episodes I can't get into because I don't like relatively generic procedurals, but Patrick Jane's total brokenness fascinates me and it pops up intermittently (increasingly in later seasons).

(And that Mentalist/Psych crossover idea keeps nagging me but not getting written, because I can't tell anyone what the actual plot would be, because everyone I know is only familiar with one of the shows. You and Riona really need to kidnap each other and force each other to watch sometime.)

I would be happy to force Riona to watch Psych, because I think she would enjoy it (particularly the relationship between Shawn and Henry, particularly in later seasons, as long as she doesn't start shipping them like the last father/son duo she fell in love with).

Okay, but for this to work, you both have to watch both shows, so if she kidnaps you, just grab your DVDs or something instead of trying to escape.

Well I only have a couple seasons on DVD, and all of season six on my computer, so she'll have to give me a minute to grab my computer, too.

I think you can talk her into it. I suspect Riona would be a fairly reasonable kidnapper.

One tends to imagine.

Probably the least worrying kidnapping ever would be Riona showing up all "I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you have to come with me so I can make you watch some interesting shows, play video games with me, and maybe write a bit of fic? If you feel like it."

Sounds like Fluttershy.

Riona is not entirely unlike Fluttershy.

After reading the below comment, I think we may have to reconsider that argument.

Fluttershy has her moments as well.

True... I suppose that was 'Putting Your Hoof Down' Fluttershy?

I'm not sure if I'd make the analogy that precise, but Riona is fully capable of putting a hoof down if need be.
