Fanfiction: Marelin (Friendship is Magic, Merlin AU)

I am suitably ashamed of myself for the title, but curiously unashamed of myself for writing a My Little Pony/Merlin fic in the first place. It makes so much sense!

Title: Marelin
Fandom: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Rating: PG
Wordcount: 8,000
Summary: Merlin AU. In a land of myth and a time of magic, the destiny of a great kingdom rests ( Read more... )

crossovers, merlin, fanfiction, my little pony, fanfiction (really this time)

I love everything in this. All of it. Especially the bit about Spike being overrated (Spike = Slash Dragon now makes me want a proper crossover where they're related somehow) and the part with the spider and the bit with the mane and the rest of it.

Since you've cast Applejack as Gwen, does that mean that Big Macintosh is going to be replacing Gwen's dad, or some other role?

(Also it took me an embarrassing amount of time to pick up on that you were using "maneservant" instead of manservant. *facehoof*)

I don't think I knew you watched Merlin! Or, if I did, I forgot. In any case, thank you very much! (I hadn't really thought about Big McIntosh's role in this AU. Hmm! Well, he's Applejack's brother, and Gwen's brother became one of Arthur's closest knights...)

I watched it for the first season, and then lost track and never got round to catching up. But I did watch it for a time! And, you know, I'll read any MLP crossover you write, because the combination of magical talking ponies and Riona can only ever turn out well. (Have you done MLP/Silent Hill yet?)

Big Macintosh is my favorite pony, so I'm very concerned about where he'll end up.

Don't say things like that! She might actually write it now!

I'm curious about how it might turn out!

Also, I've been trying to work out which ponies would be which element in the Avatar universe- Pegasus ponies are Airbenders and Earth ponies are Earthbenders, obviously, but what about Fire- and Waterbenders? I know in the original cartoon they eventually introduced seaponies, which were basically hippocampi, but they've said nothing about whether they'll have them in FiM. If they do have them, then obviously seaponies will be Waterbenders and Unicorn ponies will default to Firebenders, but if they don't, there's the question of how to work that one out. Maybe Unicorn ponies are divided into Fire- and Waterbenders? (Celestia, being a combination of Unicorn, Pegasus, and Earth pony, is obviously the avatar. If seaponies do indeed exist, we'll just have to use our imagination.)

(There are so many red squiggles in this comment. Spell check must hate me.)

I can tell you how it would turn out. Me being utterly broken with vicarious pony trauma!

Rainbow Dash practically does airbend, and I could definitely see Applejack earthbending around the farm. (Pinkie Pie does come from a family of rock farmers, but I'd be scared to give her bending powers.)

I hope they have seaponies!

I'm having trouble thinking of what sort of traumas Silent Hill would inflict on the ponies.

Seaponies would be awesome, and I've always liked hippocampi, so that would be doubly awesome. Hooray for seaponies!

Well, we've got a pretty good idea of how to shatter Pinkie Pie's mind. A few nudges and she starts going "No one really likes me, they all secretly hate me and mock me behind my back and are plotting to ditch me and leave me abandoned forever" and ends up talking to rocks. And Twilight Sparkle has massive anxiety issues about not being able to follow the rules and live up to the expectations of authority figures. Fluttershy is afraid of everything but massive monsters. Applejack doesn't cope well with being overwhelmed, not being able to do things for people, and needing help. Rainbow Dash could probably get hung up fairly nastily on conflicting loyalties or making her think she really had let down her friends in a failed attempt at grabbing glory. Rarity would be tricky, as she's constantly having minor hysterics but copes relatively well with major problems.

So Silent Hill would presumably separate them and convince Pinkie Pie that she'd been abandoned by everyone (at which point she might just let the monsters eat her), and ( ... )

You see? A MLP/SH crossover would be easy.

Yes, but it would traumatize everyone to death!

They'd get better! They would get better through the magic of friendship. Eventually.

But it would be even worse than when Discord messed with their minds and made Pinkie Pie hate fun!

But Pyramid Pony wants to have fun!

(I would kinda like to see the result of Fluttershy vs Pyramid Pony. She would be so angry about him upsetting her friends.)

Apparently, the internet loves me, because that link doesn't work.

You know, if Fluttershy ever got over her fears long enough to track everyone down and see they were in danger, and she found them being attacked by Pyramid Pony, she would so defeat him through the power of scolding.

Try this one. Different image, same concept.

He would be so ashamed of himself.

THAT IS A HORRIBLE THING!!!

He probably would be, by the end.

Maybe Silent Hill develops alarming cliffs in this version, so that Fluttershy is all "You go ahead. I'll wait here" and spends the whole time feeling worried about her friends and guilty that she doesn't have the courage to go in after them, and when it finally becomes clear that everyone's really in trouble, she charges in to the rescue ( ... )
