I keep somewhat intending to watch Ashes to Ashes, but between the difficulty of seeing it (my tendency to hop countries doesn't help on this front) and all the bits I'm meh about, I never get around to it.

It would help if they did something meaningful with Sam. I was discontented with the ending of Life on Mars, and a lot of what I've heard about Ashes to Ashes makes it sound like they're going in a direction that appeals to me more, so if they shift Sam's story so it's different, it's likely to be in a way I find more satisfying.

I do like that the Top Gear crossover is, in fact, already canon.

Ashes to Ashes isn't as good as Life on Mars, but I'd say it's worth watching if you have the chance. Every so often it will do something incredibly awesome (the finales of both series so far have been amazing).

I am so interested in seeing what they do with Sam's storyline. (And, yes, Top Gear showing up amused me quite a lot.)

I know there's been Top Gear/Life on Mars, but I don't think Top Gear/Ashes to Ashes has been done, oddly.

Yeah, I know. But no one wrote fic after the canon crossover happened. And people wrote Top Gear/Doctor Who fic well after we'd learned that Daleks don't fit into the Reasonably-Priced Car.

It's just odd.

None of the Top Gear/Doctor Who involved Daleks, though, I think. I guess people aren't interested enough in 'Richard drives off with Alex, what will Gene do to get even?' Or, for that matter Alex/Stig.

Yeah. You'd think Angry Gene Hunt, Time-Traveling Richard, and Alex Meets Stig would lead to plotbunnies, but nope.

"I do like that the Top Gear crossover is, in fact, already canon."

I reckon the Stig did it.

I'm not sure WHAT he did, but he did it.

Definitely the Stig.

Maybe he fancied the Audi Quattro but didn't have the nerve to turn up himself, so he sent Richard along hoping for a "My mate fancies you" conversation?

Bless the Stig for being too shy to ask the Audi out properly. Clearly, the fact that he was disrupting a review of the Audi Quattro was a sign to Alex to get on that.
