Re: yeah waiting just like you for the drama to come back rionaleonhart November 7 2008, 14:24:46 UTC
Well, as at the end of the third season the writers killed Dean and sent him to Hell, I'm not sure they're afraid to go anywhere. Maybe it was just bad episode-arrangement. I heard that 'Monster Movie' was originally supposed to come earlier in the season; perhaps that would have made things better.

Re: always happens in the bathroom rionaleonhart November 7 2008, 14:39:58 UTC
I suspect it may just be because those in charge enjoy having naked women on the show. Bathroom scenes have always been a staple of horror, haven't they? (Or have they? I have to admit that I don't watch a lot of horror.)

And Sam's got some way to go before he beats his brother on 'number of deaths'. (Seriously, Supernatural, how many of your recurring characters haven't died at some point? I think it's down to Jo, Bobby and Ellen.)

I am going to fanwank Dean remembering everything into Dean just telling Sam that he remembers everything so Sam will stop going, "I KNOW YOU ARE LYING, DEAN. WE MUST CONFRONT YOUR EMO MANPAIN". ...it makes sense if you don't think about it for too long!

OR, maybe Dean only thinks he remembers everything, but really he doesn't? MAYBE?

Gigantic living teddy bear: possibly the weirdest thing Supernatural has ever come up with.

...yeah, saying 'I REMEMBER SOMETHING THAT MUST BE GIVING ME HUGE AMOUNTS OF EMO MANPAIN' is perhaps not the best way to deter Sam.

LIFE IS MEANINGLESS, SIGNED T. BEAR

That was amazing and completely horrifying at the same time. (I rather like that his name is apparently 'Teddy Bear'.)

I almost think he was saying that to be mean. Like "You keep bugging me to talk about my manpain? I'll show you manpain. It's here, it's massive, and you can't do one damn thing about it. Talking's over. Hope you enjoyed it."

ETA: And was there perhaps meta-commentary in Sam and Dean talking about how loving one person more than anything is not actually healthy? I mean they've each got the one other person in their life who they love more than anything else; Dean's going to be psychologically scarred for life (er, even moreso) from what he's done because he loves Sam, and we're all waiting for Sam to burn down the world out of love for his brother.

I am so ready for an episode full of plot and pain and woe

Usually we're only given one silly/funny episode before the angst meter pegs red. They're giving us three episodes so far? That's gearing us up for some major, MAJOR pain.

I can't wait.

I think part of the reason I'm not comfortable with the concentration of light episodes at the moment is the fear that at any moment they could hit us with an episode so angsty that Dean Winchester non-figuratively reaches through the screen and rips my heart out of my chest.

Perhaps this is unlikely, but seriously, there have never been this many light episodes this close together before, and Supernatural has reached some pretty serious levels of angst.

Normally, I'm a complete sucker for Dean-angst, but I don't think I can take them tackling this level of pain. I mean really, how they ended it? Dean can remember every second of four months in Hell, and it felt like forty years? He's right. You don't fix that with sharing and caring. You probably can't even put a name on a tenth of that shit. It's too big. Eventually, words run out. The power of Winchester-hugging is not going to fix this one. It's just break him and leave him broken and watch him break some more. Repress, repress, repress may be the good strategy here.

Ok, I have to see this episode. I don't care if I'm not a fan of Supernatural, I must see the whole episode. Please tell me you know where I can find it.(I might just be tempted to write fic for it...)
