still alive and being a couch potato

Everytime I finish watching an episode of a TV show, I always feel like making a LJ post, but I get so lazy and I just leave it off till the next day, and the next till it never comes.

Sorry for the lack of updates flist. I've mostly been lazing around Fanforum or Tumblr, but I've also been quite busy with the new work. Pretty much same old, same old.

Since I'm too lazy to actually talk about what I think of the shows I've been watching this season, I thought I'd write a short post about the new shows this season:

Let's start off with the shows that has disappointed me this season:

No Ordinary Family: I had high hopes for this one. I loved the premise of the TV show, a family that has superpowers and has to kinda hide it, like the Incredibles, unfortunately, even though the title says "No Ordinary", the show is pretty ordinary. Of the 4-5 episodes I've seen, I do't remember getting a sense of excitement. Not even when they discovered their abilities, or the revelation that there are others like them.

I really wanted to like it because one of the writers is one of my favorite writers from Chuck, and Autumn Reeser is in it, but the show just couldn't keep my interest.

Undercovers: This is really the show that has disappointed me the most. It had a lot of potential to be great, but it just squandered it.

They kinda introduced this mysterious plot as to why Sam and Steve were brought back into the spy life but never followed through on it. Even though the Blooms are a steamy couple, and I have no problems with the personal aspect of their relationship, in fact it was the only thing I found interesting about them, their spy life and storyline is really boring. They are by the book, and you know they will get the job done.. and there's no challenge. It's just standard fare.

I think where Undercovers went wrong is that it took a long time (and since I haven't seen the last 2 episodes of the series yet) to set up the plot that would have taken us to a longer story arc in the season. There really was nothing that's keeping the viewers... hooked. One person can watch a random episode without having to see the previous ones. And besides that, as I already mentioned, Steven/Sam as spies were boring. I find their scenes before and after missions more interesting.

What I will miss about Undercovers though are Leo Nash and Bill Hoyt. It was the only reason I kept watching the show. Those two made that show alive. They provided the much needed comic relief in this series that really was lacking life. I loved it best when Leo and Hoyt got to work together. Leo seems like the bratty middle child, and Hoyt is the youngest who likes following his little brother around. Id on't know. I would surely watch a spinoff of these two acuse they're too damn funny.

But yes. So much potential, really poor execution.

Now onto shows I loooooooooooooove this season:

Hawaii Five-0 - I admit I put this show on my list because I think Alex O'Loughlin is hot, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that I ended up loving this show beyond AlexO's hotness.

As far as TV shows go, I think H50 is a pretty standard cop show except it is set in Hawaii. However, what I love the most about this show is the growing relationship between Steve and Danny.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a sucker for a good bromance, and a good bromance is what Steve and Danny has. I just loved the progression of HATE towards each other, to partnership, to friendship between the two. And their bickering never stops being funny. I also love how Steve has kinda influenced Danny into turning into a bit of a psycho.

But anyway, I digress. Even if the show is a cop show, I think it has improved a lot since the pilot, and has kept a healthy balance between a bit of comedy, action and drama in the show. I just can't describe it. To me, Hawaii Five-0 is just a really fun show to watch. I haven't found myself bored by an ep yet and I love all the characters so far.

Nikita - Now this show is my favorite of the season. I can honestly say that this show just keeps getting better and better after every new episode. It just keeps bringing up the ante and they just execute the storyline really well.

I also love the relationships in this show, both romantic and non-romantic. It's just so wonderful.

Michael/Nikita is probably my favorite pairing right now just because they have such little screentime together, and yet those minutes of screentime manage to say volumes about their relationship and their history. And even when they don't get screentime, their reaction when the other is mentioned is just so telling. The just really built up their relationship really well, but on the other hand, viewers can't help but wonder how it will all work out when Michael is still in Division and Nikita is their number one target. It's just interesting to see how all this would unfold Not to mention, Shane West and Maggie Q's chemistry is off the charts.

I can say more, but really, I don't know how to properly describe the awesomeness of this show. Each new episode I watch, I jsut go "WOW" at the end and sit there in disbelief that they've managed to make a better episode then the previous.

My only beef is that it truly is a fluffy spy show in the sense that the main group Nikita is against is supposedly tough, but the producers/writers missed a lot of details in their concept of this group that just makes it look like they're dumb.

Anyway, Nikita is the one show this season that I will definitely recommend. It's worth watching. I still can't get over its mid-season finale. Almost at the calibre of most shows' season finale.

So what new TV shows are yo guys watching?
