as jeff said "that's pretty fucking zero day!"

well, kinda not really. people have had it for a bit I hear. But anyway, I'm nerdy as shit, and got a copy of Vista (aka: codename longhorn) beta 1 from our msdn subscription for work.

I had it installed on a laptop for about an hour today fucking around with it, but then had to redo the laptop so I could actually use it for work. I'm supposed to install it on the lab computers next week so we can fuck around with it.

It looks cool. The new format of tcp/ip seems odd. I honestly barely read up on it today tho, so I just may not know enough about it. I'm kinda of annoyed the file system isn't coming out until the new version of server (which I guess isn't remotely near done and doesn't have a name yet) because according to everything I'm reading, THAT is the real crazy technology leap this OS was supposed to flaunt. The global search function is neat (since it runs off sql I'm told) as are the gadgets (or whatever they call them). Tho anyone who owns OSX Tiger, has already been using this for a long time.

I guess we'll see tho. It *IS* only beta 1. Aesthetically I have to say this is the best looking windows OS to date. They dropped the ugly blue for a black/silver/white scheme. (this suits me jsut fine since I change any XP machine I use to the silver scheme hehe) they did some good still with the programs list too. but the new windows explorer views kinda bug me. It all does look slick tho. I give microsoft an A in visual design. Maybe they're not jsut stealing, but learnign a thing or two from OSX as well. hehe

anyway, I'd love to offer up all you nerds copies, but I'd get fired. heh

p.s.- yes, I do realize only .01% of the population care about this. And I also realize that 99% of that .01% have to because of their job (like me).
