I left my place at 7 am--my taxi driver was an elderly man who came out of retirement so he could pay his doubled property taxes and his wife's medical bills. I wasn't able to get many pictures on the train--all of the cool sites passed by too quickly for any camera to catch. Or, more specifically, too quickly for me to get my camera ready for any photos. I did see a beautiful field of corn, and a row of houses near Fredericksburg that I felt quite sorry for.
Overall, the ride was uneventful, and soon I was in Baltimore. I was lucky again this year, and only waited in line for fifteen minutes to get through preregistration. Honestly, I'd much rather come around noon on Friday and do that then come on Thursday evening and wait for five hours. So, it was off to the con.
Friday was fairly boring--I met up with the one who got away, and found out about her escapades in a love triangle. There was some angsting--y'know, to get it out of the way for the weekend. The amv contest was fun, though. There were some good entries this time around. I didn't wind up winning, but I came in second, which is fine. :) Better than I've
ever done before, so I'm pleased with it.
I was supposed to meet up with
bakkhos afterward, but that fell through so I just headed back to the hotel room and hung out with everybody. I was supposed to sleep in Vic's bed, but, uh...I got the floor. With lots of loud snoring. :) Riding Crop gave me some earplugs in the morning, so at least that was a one-time occurance.
Yes, that is Crispy on the floor.
P-P-PAULA. ♥ I glomped her.
An'ya is a very good L, but...well. Apparently this was the "wrong wig" that she grabbed that
morning--she had the right one by the next day, but it honestly wasn't much better. Try again
love. ♥
SO WRONG. YET SO AWESOME. (But that white thing wasn't there when I took the picture. Ghost? D: )
Needs moar hooooo!
Thank god, a Tetsunosuke!
"Um, excuse me male Naruto who actually looks somewhat decent--could I have a picture?"
On Saturday, after taking about a thousand years to shower (one of our two
bathrooms had a clogged shower, and we had about ten people to get through that damn thing), we all went out for pizza for breakfast lunch. Split off after that, looking for
irishc4t who was in the middle of watching the AMV contest. So, while I waited for her
to come out...
....I played duck-duck-goose. :) Sadly, the staff came and broke it up RIGHT WHEN IT WAS FINALLY
MY TURN. >\ Once Cat came out, we went to the dealers room and tried on corsets :)
....This is the only way I was physically able to move.
Also found an Appa and an IROH! *_*
Oh, you sexy, sexy old man you.
This was a very, VERY good Chouji.
Honestly? I don't know either.
We (though really, it was just me X3) wandered around the artist alley for a few minutes, then I
broke off to meet with the elusive
bakkhos. We met in the dealer's room, and
tried to headed off to the masquerade line, which was already insanely long.
We found ways to entertain ourselves.
Honestly, the masquerade could have been better. I've always loved waiting for the show to start, when the techies show off their sharp wit on the screens and people find ways to entertain themselves. Instead, they plugged Devil May Cry (though it looks really good) and the
shittiest Bleach/D. Grayman rip off I've ever seen. So that kinda sucked--then the skits were pretty bad, too. There was one for a Naruto prom. It could've been amazing, but it was random and horrible and--what the fuck. There was a random guy in an Akatsuki cloak with a BASEBALL CAP, and a girl obviously dressed as Blue-chan--yet they called themselves Itachi and Kisame. It hurt bad. There was also a skit where they danced to the Numa Numa song and THREE that used Candy Mountain audio. Ironically enough, immediately after one of these was a skit that outlined the steps to making a good cosplay skit, and sing the Numa Numa song and use Candy Mountain were two of the steps. XDDDD
This,
this, and this. (too bad the
Haku/Zabuza zombie part at the beginning is completely cut off. Hell, even the Orochimaru dance
scene is completely gone!! And that was amazing!) were some of the only decent skits. Of course, the
musical Link skit was
also very good. And I totally love the Navi attached to her head. XD
After the cosplay,
bakkhos,
infinitefirefly,
sharingank and I
all went to this seafood bar and didn't get seafood. Nachos and grilled cheese all the way! We
entertained ourselves more than sufficiently with a mini photoshoot.
EL GASP. I love how this one makes it look like there are more Akatsuki sitting at the table.
Poor Deidara is bored, and his hand is thirsty.
And Kakuzu doesn't give a flying fuck.
My favorite--Deidei eats nachos!
After watching the fan parodies, I left on my own and called
kusoyaro to see if we could hang out--he said he was at a strip club and gave me directions, but I got lost and wound up wandering around Baltimore alone at for an hour at 1:30 AM. By the time I finally found the club, they said they weren't letting anyone else in and I had to hurry back through the fucking red light district on my own back to the hotel. I learned my lesson. Next time, Hsien, you're coming with me. :\
Other photos from the day:
CUTEST. THING. EVER.
AHHHHH--
HE EVEN HAS AN ORANGE SIPPIE CUP.
AND THIS ONE. SJFLES HE'S CHEWING ON HIS SHURIKEN.
Now this is one awesome guy. Take advantage of your body type, people!
This Naruto was the perfect age, though his brother was a little too young to be Sasuke. :3 I
couldn't get the kid to stop smiling!
He looks so happy to be trying to kill him! I told them to "be at each others' throats." Their
dad was like "Okay, at each others' throats, guys!"
sharingank and Tobi. I think he was the sister of the Naruto and Sasuke above.
Best use of red-eye ever!
Sasori? I love the wig.
Now who's this sexy thing?
The lovely lovely
bakkhos and a random Sasucakes!
Sunday was mainly comprised of checking out of the hotel and hanging out with people. Mostly
bakkhos and co. :3 We explored the artist alley some more, and I bought a ridiculously adorable Sasunaru print. Though the DA version is bigger than the one I bought. .__. Then we went to the dealer's room. (My loot included an adorable penguin hat, Wild Adapter 1 and 2, Loveless 1, some other random manga I got 'cause it was free, and a motherfucking fabric-covered Gama-chan BEACH BALL.)
What the fuck is this shit? Since when is Naruto so buff?
....................................Yeah I know.
I totally love this Samehada.
ITACHI IN AN AKATSUKI TUX. I LOVE IT.
"I can't see, you motherfuckers!"
....er.
We parted ways, and soon it was time to head back to the train station. My train was two hours late, so I didn't get home for a long time and nearly didn't have the chance to get dinner on the train. Mmm, microwaved chicken wings.
Penn station has a lovely ceiling. *___*
Overall, Otakon was...
