The Family Book

You know, when your mother comes from some little forgotten by God tiny village somewhere in the mountains, you get used to thinking it's nothing interesting nor special. Well, today I found out I'm an idiot. Because my family has all those movie-like background stories.
My mother was born and raised in Kovatchevitsa - an all-christian village in Bulgaria. The place itself has a really interesting story. When the Turks tried to make all the christians in Bulgaria muslim, some of them chose to run away. And so they found this magical place in the mountain, far from all civilization and danger. It's pretty interesting that even now most of the other villages around it are generally muslim, but Kovatchevitsa is entirely christian.
Nowadays the village looks just as "uncivilized" as it used to be back in its foundation. Well, at least all the TV shows and paper photos show so. And my mom said it really is - it's a far from all the phone and internet connection place where a freedom-lover would love to live in. So, mom promised to go there in summer. And we'll see her house. Well, I should confess, I'm quite excited about it^^
My mother's family has a really interesting story itself. All those things we've seen in movies and read in history books about the time Bulgaria was under the Turks' domination and after, until the Union. Like stealing brides, stories about haidouks, it is even said that under the foundations of the house there is a hidden fortune. And they are all true.
So, mom said that when we go to Kovatchevitsa she'll tell us even more stories. I really can't wait to do that!
