Sky Cable's New Rude and Ridiculous Strategy Against Cable Theft

Sep 06, 2006 19:16

I'm sure most Sky Cable subscribers know how annoying the company has been with their 'Wag maging kabit anti-cable theft campaign. You're watching your favorite show and then all of a sudden, they cut it and insert their cheesy anti-cable theft commercial (complete with guilt-trip and scare). Well now they've gotten even worse.

This afternoon, a Sky Cable representative came to our house requesting for proof of our Sky Cable subscription (a billing statement or a receipt). It was our maid who greeted him and she hurriedly went to my room to tell me about the Sky Cable guy. I told her to just tell him to come back on another day as my parents were not around. She went back a few minutes later looking really scared, saying that the Sky Cable representative was threatening to cut off our cable if we cannot show a proof of our subscription.

Wtf, right?

The whole thing is so stupid and insulting. I mean, why would they need proof of our subscription when we are surely in their customer database? Obviously they have our complete address too as they send us bills monthly. They shouldn't demand to be presented with a bill or receipt just to prove that we are legal subscribers. What if you're disorganized (like me) and just throw billing statements and receipts away? They'll declare you an illegal subscriber and cut your line off that easily???

We've been a subscriber of Sky Cable ever since they started over a decade ago. We always pay on time too. And they treat us in such a rude and insulting manner? That's just so wrong. They made a very very big mistake too cause I really go out of my way whenever a big company does something shitty to me.

You know what's funny? Two neighbors of ours actually did steal our cable last June. It ruined our signal and made some channels look sooo crappy. We called Sky Cable about it and all they did was cut off the illegal lines. They did not arrest the cable thieves or ask them to pay a fee. They just kept their mouth shut as if nothing happened. They didn't even tell us two households were stealing our cable (our other neighbors did).

So what's the point of interrupting cable shows and airing those cheesy cable thieves will be punished commercials? They don't do what they claim they will. They should air "subscribers with no billing statements / receipts will have their cable cut off immediately" commercials instead. They do that.

News just in~ a neighbor of ours couldn't present a receipt / billing statement and the Sky Cable guy immediately cut off his cable line. What the fuck. That makes me so angry. I'm going to report this to the media!!! >:(
