Plot- 9.5/10 a superb storyline and very original framework. Excellent use of diction and very consistent in characterization. A slow but stable pace, not draggy but quite concise yet builds anticipation. The reason I didn’t give it a 10/10 is the debatable ending. It was rather rushed and left to the reader’s imagination. Though I felt the author left it off at a good place, the story still felt incomplete. The last chapter was like and ending for that chapter not the entire story. Other than that, the solid storyline is a classic that all yoosu fans should have read or know about. Definitely recommended.
Grammar- 9.3/10 love the author’s use of words. Only a few errors were spotted in the first few chappies with the quotation marks and punctuation.
Summary- Park Yoochun blames the death of his Fiancée on Kim Junsu, assuaging his grief by reattribution. Through a private detective, the heir of a large corporation discovered Junsu’s life was a routine. In the morning, Kim Junsu is a kind kindergarten teacher of a school situation nearby his house; afterward he is a polite waiter to a restaurant, he then rushes home immediately to cook for his ill mother, and leaves at night to work as a host. Yoochun exposes pictures of Junsu working at a host club to the school and through connections got the restaurant to fire Junsu by initiating a false taboo.
Yoochun’s resentment towards Junsu is not reciprocated as Junsu cannot find himself hating the other when there is enough hatred from one side. Yoochun found the only weakness that can evoke any kind of response to the composed and very resilient man is his fragile mother. After meeting up with the other, Junsu agreed to do anything the said man wishes. Later, they met at hotel where Yoochun broke Junsu down by raping him.
The humiliation does not stop there as Junsu was force to move into one of Yoochun’s house in the country side where the two learn to live together in silent harmony. Slowly both learnt a bit about one another and their relationship evolved into a rather complicated state. Subconsciously the two, albeit refusing to admit to the feeling, were falling for each other. Seldom speaking to one another to waiting for the other to dine together. Yoochun slowly found salvation in his revenge and grief of his ex-fiancé through Junsu’s kind and genuine character.
However things got heated once more when Yoochun’s rather revealed his knowledge of the games Yoochun were playing and indicated he wanted him to cease the childishness for a new potential partner that would benefit their large corporation. Debating on how to break the news to Junsu, Yoochun procrastinated in the attempt but knew if he didn’t initiate soon, his father would. Despite overcoming several emotional obstacles together, including the death of Junsu’s beloved mother, Yoochun still did not know their relationship and therefore did not know how to make amendments.
Finally it was Junsu who propose to move out of the house after discovering all those late night business trips Yoochun claim to be making was not work related but for meeting up his new fiancée. Yoochun had no choice but to clarify the details and eventually set upon the decision of giving the ownership of the manor to the younger man and moving out into an apartment. He secretly paid the intuition of junsu’s college fee and set up a future for the other man. It was his way of protecting him.
Fate must have played with the two when Yoochun and his new fiancée were to have dinner with Yoochun’s old professor, who is now junsu’s university professor, but the man brought along his student. Junsu was awkward and quiet all through the dinning but Yoochun could not stop looking at him. Things got complicated afterwards and eventually Junsu disappeared. Yoochun could not find the lithe man anywhere. Upon arriving at their old house and finding the place trashed with alcohol and filth piled high on the platform, he knew the odd action contradicts junsu’s behavior. After searching every room in the house and no Kim Junsu in sight, his last option was to look in his old room. There he found the man under a bundle of blankets crying his eyes out. Hearing his name the boy still in an intoxicated state struggled to awaken. Yoochun pulled him into an embraced and kissed his lover. Everything he has been fighting to build crumble as he realizes his love for the latter. At the moment together in bed, Yoochun knew that all throughout his life he have never defied his father neither does he have the will to. But Kim Junsu makes him feel everything with the man is worth it.
