Summary: A king, an anarchist, an officer, a spy, and an orphaned boy all have something in common- bad blood. Two vindictive souls take revenge to a whole new level.
Prologue:
Drip. Drip. Drip. Velvet smooth fluids glide on pale translucent skin before slowly dripping to the earth. Excess runoffs fill every crack and crevice on the ground, coiling and spiraling around a decadent kingdom. The seeds of vengeance are planted by the sweat of husbandry and dampened by the blood of oath. The land is parch, a desolated piece of space where drought is only relinquish by a red flood crashing inland, devouring every village in sight.
An omniscient moon casts a trademark glow on the back of a young king; his golden robe glistens with the fibre of every thread fine tuning his garment. The majestic crown dips a brush of rose into a river of ink, the decree spills into the black seas and pollutes the inhabitants in a mocking death. The fusion of dark matter dissipates as the young ruler swirls the handle around like the deft hands’ of a tea-master, only a circumstantial whirlpool is produced by an undeliberate arm.
A cycle of children will come and die- their legacy a fleeting obstruction of pawns in a game rule by kings- as told by the oracle of truth. The death of one leads to an awakening of the other, time after time, as the matrixes of sand revolves around the emperor’s last hour. A tide of change is bound to overthrow the dunes of winter.

A/N: So I've wanted to do a historical/time themed ff so the longest time. Ideas of this fic actually hit when tacoss wrote the summary to a 1930s - 1940s(?) yoosu fanart book by deng and manhole. I had most of the plot in my head around January, began and completed most of it by april,and this fic is still driving me crazy lol
