Lonely Solstice

Jun 21, 2006 11:10

Summer solstice three years ago was my favourite. My mother, sister and I went to the hot springs and dinosaur museum down in Thermopolis. This solstice I get to go home and crochet. Damn. I'll try to give Loren a call --I need my Boy Fix for the week.

I'm in ill sorts. I have nothing to do at work for the week at work, am going to a funeral tomorrow and will be missing taekwondo in favor of seeing a play. Normally I'd have a naughty satisfaction about getting culture and "cheating" on my exercise plan, but after a sad event I'll be pent up with frustration. I was counting on kiaps to help me unwind. Ay. That just means I'll be out in the grass around midnight practicing my step exercises and medatative poomses. My new neighbours already think we're oddball, so I might as well keep my reputation, ne?

The funny thing is, their definition of "odd" is anyone who was born outside of Wyoming. I'm not kidding. Our neighbour two doors over is from Oregon and has lived here since she was thirteen. She's still an outsider even though she's now in her mid-thirties and has two children. I can understand if you're from another country -you'll always have a mother land and mother tongue- but from a couple hundred miles away? ...Though I am from a thousand miles away, so I am practically in a foreign country anyway. Heh!

Happy Solstice regardless to all of you.
