While I think that the recent American PC war on Christmas is more than
a tad childish -everyone deserves their own outlet for spiratualism and
diversity is a wonderful thing- I am rather tired of people asking "Are
you ready for Christmas?" I want to say "No, but I'm ready for
Chaunukka." After taking a semester of Hebrew (and signing up for the
spring continuation) I feel more in connection to the early Jews and
Caananites rather than the WASPish people that were in my more recent
ancestry. (Somewhere far back my ancestors were Jewish and Scotsmen in
the same branch. Odd mix.) I don't like people assuming I'm celebrating
their holiday, even if I'm not going to play the ludicrous PC game. I
alternately want to say "No, but I'm ready for Yule and offering the
Goddess a bunt cake," or "No, but Happy Atheiest Day." These Wyoming
people need to be shaken out of their sameness every now and then.
One final down last night. I was in the design room for four straight
hours. Oy. My algebra final is tomorrow and my last Hebrew class is
Tuesday. Overall, it's been a good semester, and I've gotten some good
art out of it that for once isn't just simple doodling. I'm looking
forward to next semester and having actual free time. Wow. I can
cherish my time rather than being rushed from moment to moment. I could
like totally watch TV.
