2019 things ribka watched roundup

Jan 05, 2020 20:27

I did a post for everything within winter season, but nothing past, partially because... I just didn't... watch a lot of things. In between thesis tears of doom, Anvengers burnout and overall lackluster lineup, the list I was left with was quite short, but because my memory is awful, I will collect things here for posterity regardless.

As fro Rumlow, how much you wanna bet they now in retrospect are mad they killed him off so quickly in Civil War instead of keeping him around for the Falcon&Winter Soldier series?
OMMMGGG!!! (How tf did I not even think of it???) (Also. I want. I WANT!!!) Actually I don't believe in deaths in MCU on a principle, just in case - especially with Pietro Maximoff it looked like a typical "Temporarily dead, hold a room for me" - so with Rumlow it felt the same, I lowkey expected him survive also that. What's one building on top of him more or less, anyway. But now it seems MCU might be doing things permanent after all, even if Marvel as a whole doesn't, so...

Bucky to get some catharsis punching his smug mug.
Yup, what he was deprived in general, with how his everything after CA:TWS was handled...

then it was australian best boy and I was very happy, considering I was prepared to see him again only in CM2 in like 4 years.
And this way we also got Fury on a beach, so win-win. :D

am absolutely not feeling inspired to go see Black Widow at all :(
While I'm going to watch it, and not even only because of hope for Bucky hints, since I started AT LAST actually liking her and not just trying to like her, I'm rather meh at those AmeriRussianTurboBond vibes the trailer is traying to bait me with... So, it's kind of like I'm going to suffer through a boring spy action for the sake of the character. Then again, I expected to suffer through the first Spidey teen movie for the sake of much less, and turned out to really have fun because of the movie itself, so who knows, never say never and all that. Let's keep up the hope, we already know MCU can surprise positively. :)

Not to ruin your day but xD He did survive Winter Soldier just fine, but he exploded himself in Civil War, it's what kicked off the whole "Oops, Scarlet Witch exploded crossbones in the Wakandan embassy" debacle xD
We'll get Zemo back for the show at least, so... small mercies?

He really deserved his space beach vacation, bless him.

since I started AT LAST actually liking her
That's actually my problem - I liked her a lot in Civil War and through Avengers 4, especially in her world-weary found family relationship with Steve, and I'm a) mad at her sacrifice death and b) her solo movie being all about how she had a family this whole time undercuts it a bit for me? idk. I am willing to be positively surprised (as I was of Captain Marvel) but overall I'm more excited for the Marvel movies that are way beyond the horizon (Shang Chi!!! Doctor Strange horror movie!!! Captain Marvel 2!!!)

Yup, that's what I meant by one (Triskellion) or more (embassy) buildings on him, and I felt it's unclear already while posting, so that's on me, sorry.

As long as they won't botch it, but what was in the trailer seems promising, knock on wood.

all about how she had a family this whole time
Hmpfff... I didn't really check out anything on it beyond that glimpse of the trailer, yeah, I'd rather live without any more Unexpected Families behind every corner... I'm watching those other ones, too, but it's F&WS I'm really waiting for. :)

Oooh, I see, I was thinking there's no way you'd forget XD I misread it then!

I haven't even watched the trailer yet for it, I'm going in blind (and based on memes). I won't get Disney+ until the series is about to come out (and then watch The Mandalorian bc it seems nice) :'D

I guess I'm going to keep watching the MCU-stuff, but it's currently overall for me a bit meh with movie releases? This year, the thing I'm most excited (?) for is the second neon-bonanza-version of Agatha Christie à la Kenneth Brannagh so XD

*cough* I mean, I've seen some three second here and two and half there, while scrolling to other things, so this counts, I'm sure. I totally saw the trailer. Er, saw it was there, anyway. XD

Yup, same here. I hope thery will have Frozen 2 and Maleficent 2, on my part. :) Amazon Video turned out lacking them, so a day after I had finished the Good Omens and saw the rest of their ridiculous "offer", I said "You gotta be kidding me, suckers" and shut the money valve unceremoniously. And then they're suprised that people are pirating right and left...

Ehh, I'm so much buried under rl shitty shit happening, that I don't even have it in me to pursue anything fiction-like that isn't a new piece of a fandom I still more care for than not... *sigh*

Yeaaaah, Amazon... I got it for free with my student ID and have yet to cancel it bc Prime is convenient for shipping and all that, and Amazon tends to license very good Anime, but overall their stuff is a bit lackluster, and I can't believe they want to make a reboot of Lord of the Rings their big IP. Does anyone.... even want one....

I feel you :'D For my part, I'm just waiting for more Taiwanese Puppet Wuxia Fanfic and listen to podcasts in the meantime xD
