Repo!
I finally saw Repo: The Genetic Opera tonight. I can say that it wasn't quite as dumb as I thought it would be, but it was close.
My thoughts:
Repo = Sweeney Todd + The Lion King + The Music Man with a little bit of Moulin Rouge on the side.
I could totally see the Gravedigger guy singing "We've got trouble, right here in River City! We've got trouble with a capital T that rhymes with P and that stands for Pool!"
And then we have the whole: "I killed your mother!" = "I killed Mufasa!"
Then at the opening of the opera scene they COMPLETELY rip off Moulin Rouge.
The main girl had a bunch of really dumb songs -- very poorly written, too. But some of the other songs were okay.
Shock of the night: I think Paris Hilton was my favorite character. She was just playing herself -- a slutty, drug-addicted heiress -- but she did a decent job at it. She was pretty funny.
Anyway, final verdict = it wasn't terrible.
