Jen has inspired me to do my research in regards to the upcoming election.

I don`t even want to look at my conservative rep, because I`m seriously disappointed with our government on the whole.

I looked at the Green Party budget, which looks good to me, but I really can`t see large business or industrial sectors agreeing with carbon taxing, etc. Although they appear to want to give tax breaks to young families and small business, which would work really nicely for me. Our Green candidate is a U of W professor who studies indigenous cultures and teaches Human Rights. I think thats good, considering I live in West Broadway, but can she yell at the loudmouths in Commons? I'm skeptical. It is also safe to assume a former university professor will stand up for students, as our riding is largely comprised of renters and students.

I agree with the NDP platform too. Pat Martin is running, he's our current MP. I can`t seem to find anything about him, though, beyond various quotes about wheat boards that I don`t understand. I like Jack Layton, I guess. I wish I could learn more about him- any ideas? I'm not interested in talking to him in person, just sayin.

Tough call, hey?

I also have a Communist in my riding, but I may as well write "Mickey Mouse" on piece of used toilet paper and toss it in the ballot box, for all the good that'll do me. There was a point in my life when I would have agreed, but today is not that day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either.

I am so repulsed by the slander and fear politics in commercials and Internet, it makes me not want to vote at all. I may adopt my mother's tactic, which is to write "GROW UP CHILDREN" on her ballot. At least she voted, and said her piece. She believes that when a ballot is deliberately destroyed, maybe the government will realise there is NOBODY to vote for, and maybe real change will come. Keep dreaming, Mummy dear.

I hate to be the cynical girl who has lost all hope, but I kind of am. I don't think the NDP will win the election, I believe my money will continue to be lost to the rich bastards in Parliament, and I don't think anyone is going to give a shit about my job, my family, or my bank account. The government has refused to help me constantly. I was denied EI when I was deathly ill, I get taxed to high heavens, denied loans, and I pay out the ass for eyecare and dental. I can vote Green, but I don't think they understand how challenging it is to be in the arts (or to be an arts teacher). I guess the answer is "change your job, fool". Not happening.

Where can I learn more?
