"You know, it will be much less easy to climb, if you remove all the vines...."

Steerpike says it off-handedly, as he walks around the Mansion. Looking for a project himself.

Still amnesiac. Urgh.

He jumps, startled, too absorbed in his work and unfamiliar with the sounds of this forest to notice the man approaching. He resolves not to let that happen again. "I have no need to climb it," he says, "so I have no need for the vines. They'll get in the way of fixing the walls and the roof if I leave them up." Plus they may be a fire hazard, considering what it's for, but the typist isn't entirely certain on that point.

Typist agrees re firehazard. Steerpike, however...

"You do not, but I do. I use these, to get up on to the roof."

"Climbing around on the roof of a forge wouldn't be a wise idea," he says, frowning. He doesn't like the idea of anyone crawling around on his forge (and it already is his now, in his mind.

He shrugs. "I like climbing to rooftops, and the one of the Mansion isn't practicable."

Steerpike, of course, has no idea of Cele's proclamation.

"You already said that," Steerpike point out. "And why not?"

Celebrimbor just stares for a moment. "Do you really want to stand above a forge fire?"

He just gives him back a skeptical look.

"I'm not overly familiar with those." That's a no.

[ringsmith]

"You'd be risking your life," he says. Then he turns and goes back to pulling down ivy.

"Well then." He does not wish to die.

"Wait, was that a threat?" Mostly because of the way it's said.

[ringsmith]

He answers without looking. "Only if you climb onto the roof of my forge while the fires are lit."

That's rational enough.

"Understood. I'll check before I do."

[ringsmith]

"I suggest that you do not, regardless of whether or not the fires are lit." More coldly, still focused on his work rather than the man he's talking to.

Steerpike leans against the wall.

"Do I understand that you own this place?" It's completely disbelieving.

[ringsmith]

"I suppose I do now. It was abandoned. I am rebuilding it. That makes it mine."
