1. What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was really young, a dancer or cheerleader. Early elementary school, I wanted to be a whale trainer at Marine World (used to be like Sea World, is now an amusement park, no animals as far as I know). Late elementary school my aspirations changed to marine biologist or veterinarian. It was around 4th grade that I learned UC Davis, which was about an hour from where I grew up, had the top veterinarian school in the country, so that became the only university I wanted to go to, even after I no longer had a clue what I wanted to be when I grew up.
2. Did you follow through? If not, what happened?
NOPE. By the time I got to college, my major was undeclared - life sciences. After calculus and chemistry made my GPA take a nose dive, I took a lot of general ed classes while I decided on a new major. Eventually took the path of becoming a teacher.
3. Is your life turning out the way you thought it would when you were a kid? If not, is it better or worse?
Another big NOPE. Not only did I go in a different career direction, I'm not even a teacher anymore. Child me NEVER would have guessed I'd end up in the insurance industry.
4. Paradoxes aside, if you could time-travel back to when you were 10 years old, what would you tell your 10-year-old self?
Don't listen to some (a lot) of what Mom says about your appearance.
5. Do you think the child you were, would like the adult you've become?
I think child me would be surprised at how independent adult me is. I mean, I always have been pretty self-sufficient, but still.
