More Bronte madness!

-Going to watch The Tenant of Wildfell Hall after this post. Well, after I find some dinner more substantial than an iced latte. Toby Stephens and Tara Fitzgerald are in it. I hope I can separate Tara from her role as Aunt Reed. ETA: Pam Ferris, aka Mrs. Poole, is in it too.

-Going to see Jane Eyre again tomorrow with Susan, and possibly ( Read more... )

I read almost all of Wuthering Heights lol. I admit I got so....I don't know what's the word...I just had to skim a little. That said, you should read it. Just because lol.

I happened to catch the 1997 version of JE on TV a few nights ago. I came in at the middle and watched it until the end, and then they showed it again right after so I got to see more of the beginning. It was certainly not great, but it was interesting to see how similar it was to '06 and at the same time so so so different.
Random thoughts I can't seem to format in a way that makes sense:
-They changed a lot from the book.
-One thing that was so weird was the man who played Rochester had an extremely similar voice to Toby! I think if I was blindfolded I would be convinced it was him. Very weird.
-Unless I was half a asleep and imagining things, I think the lady who played Dixon was in it? lol

Edit: To make it clear I do not endorse this version of JE lol. It's no '06. And I still need to rewatch the infamous William Hurt version since I have seen '06 and read the book, but it's not even as good as that one lol ;)

JSYK, I was listening to She&Him clips when I got your comment notification.

The 1997 version is the only other one I actually liked (aside from the brand new one). I don't own it though - borrowed it from a friend. I only watched it once so I'll need to watch it again. Rochester in that one is Cirian Hinds, who was also in Persuasion 95 and Phantom of the Opera.

IMDB doesn't list Dixon (Pauline Quirke) as being in Jane Eyre.

ETA I watched the 2006 proposal scene on Youtube last night, and laughed at myself for being able to quote nearly all the lines.

lol that's funny :P

I looked on IMDB too and didn't see it either. I guess it must have been some other movie or another character lol. That's the trouble with watching movies before bed!

I'm so curious to see the new proposal scene! I saw a clip in a preview and I missed Ruth Wilson's fire and passion. Obviously there could be a completely different feel to the scene in the new movie, so we'll see. I don't want to know until I see it though lol.
