So, for the third year in a row, my family and I went to see the Hamlin Lake Fireworks. My mom, brother, and I took a walk by all the cottages down there and were repeatedly passed by two dorks on a golf cart that were obviously just driving the length of the road over and over. One of them said "hi" to me as they zoomed past. Then we saw the son of the people we were visiting (it's Logan, the manager of Dairy Queen) and he had like a ZZ Top beard (Like that one guy on "Supergroup". You know the one I mean...), so that was just odd. The experience was much different this year as lightning started off to the southwest before the fireworks started. All the little boats started getting off the water, which was getting really choppy, and we moved underneath a porch to get away from the lake and rain. The show seemed shorter this year, but it could have been from the presence of the rain. At the end of the show, it was down pouring and it got worse as we headed back north towards home. The asphalt road was too hard to see and it was hailing, so we took a detour to get to the Quarterline-Townline intersection on a dirt road. There were green branches all over the road, mud, and what sounded like stones and pebbles raining on our car from above. There wasn't really any thunder though, only lightning. I think we might have hydroplaned down a hill even. So, we made it to Townline, and we see this whole tree laid across the road. There was no getting around that, so we took another circuitous route going east down Townline, and taking two lefts and a right to get back on Quarterline on the north side of the fallen tree. It was quite the drive, but we all got home safely, and today is a very fine day.
