Around 4 am, I was saying goodnight to
aspiringhuman who I'd been chatting with online and listening to music on my headphones when a huge sound came from outside - and the house shook a bit, the glasses in the cabinet were rattling. It scared the crap out of me, to be honest and woke up
zaldan who'd been asleep.
The sound continued for a while, every few minutes or so and we stayed awake together trying to figure out what was going on. The sound was echoing off the apartment buildings in our neighbourhood which made it harder to identify the direction it was coming from. Rather than logging back in to lj, I made
a post on twitter and tried to fall asleep. I kept jolting awake, even after I did fall asleep and finally gave up a while ago and turned on the news.
That sound was the Sunrise Propane Depot at Keele & Wilson, exploding.

Holy crap. Seriously scary stuff. We're like.. 20 KM from there and it still rattled the cabinets. O_O
We've been sitting here watching CP24 for minute to minute updates.
Fire officials said residents within a 1.6 kilometre radius around the plant have been evacuated. So far reported injuries have been minor - thank god.
I'll update as more news comes becomes available.
edit (9:55 am)- Yorkdale, Wilson and Downsview stations are closed.
