Today was Fall Break day, meaning 3 day weekend, meaning awesome.
Life is infinitely more relaxed than it was a few weeks ago, and weather is beautiful and mice are gone, and I have a beau. I feel like those things shouldn't all go in the same sentence.
Saturday was wedding stuff. All day long. Long, but fun, and definitely worth all the little moments and just the sheer happiness that comes with weddings and parties and afterparties and all of that.
Then yesterday. Yesterday we went to Annapolis to go boating on Carlos' little yacht. lol. It was supposed to be a quick little excursion. But we arrived, and Carlos realized the batteries were dead, so he went out to fix that and Rebekah decided we were going pumpkin picking. Carlos fixed the problem before we could go out for pumpkins, and we went out on the boat, out of Weems Creek and into the larger waters of Annapolis, by Navy courses and whatnot. We ran out of gas and went to a boat gas station, then we "parked" illegally and went to dinner, and rescued our boat just before this mean guy was about to finish untying it and releasing it into the wild. lol. So we boarded and started to head back for home around sunset, and it was just absolutely beautiful. Windy and chilly, but somehow perfect. We ended up getting extremely lost just as we lost a lot of light, and with the help of some people across a creek, and a blackberry, we made our way back to Weems Creek. We scraped some bottoms and had a lot of problems. Eek!! So then, we had to go under a dinky little drawbridge, but it was high tide and so we couldn't fit under the bridge!! John almost lost a few fingers, and the boat definitely hit a little bit. The drawbridge only works during the day, so after some pondering and drifting along, we went back to the yacht club and taxi-ed back to Carlos' house, and drove home so much later than expected. But such a wonderful trip.
With that, it's time for some Swedish meatballs and lingonberries. Yum.
