*sings* A Pirates life for me....
I went and saw Pirates 3 this morning with a friend. Best 2 hours and 45 minutes I've had in a good long while.
A lot of people expressed disappointment with the second film, and I loved it because I knew it wasn't really a movie in and of itself, it was the first part of an epic. And it's well rounded out in the third film.
Negatives:
[x} Just as confusing as the 2nd film. There are lots of seperate agendas to follow. Loads of double crossing.
[x} Unnecesary grusomeness. For all that the filmmakers have done very well at keeping the bloodflow out of sight, the lose the brownie points in other ways. I still think 13 is too young for this movie.
[x} Personally? Still not amored with Elizabeth. However, there's considerable character growth for both she and Will. Finally.
[x} Not enough Norrington.
Positives:
[x} BEAUTIFUL cinematography. I left the theater desperately wanting to make vids. There were some images that just still stick with me in their sheer beauty.
[x] As mentioned above, character growth for both Will and Elizabeth. And Jack really gets his shining moment.
[x} Chow Yun-Fat!
[x} Pure awesomeness.
Whatever you do, don't leave the theater until the credits are over!
