I was told about this fic before I knew about it. Someone just said "There's Zoe/Simon AKA Zima fic on my friendslist" and was very scared about it. As a general rule I hate "pairing names" (Zima, Rayne, Mayne, Jaylee whatever) so the idea of "Zoe/Simon" being "Zima" made me like, want to claw my eyes out ( ... )

Hee, I wrote this as lark, more to see if it was possible than anything else. Because, like you, I think Zoe/Simon is the least likely Firefly pairing ever. They don't mix.

Which is why I'm determined to make them.... At least until I get bored.

*cough* War fic? What war fic?

That was just lovely. It made complete sense, that no one would touch Zoe (although I'm not 100% that the other women wouldn't, but if Zoe didn't let them they wouldn't), yet Simon would so not be afraid to, and he'd be smart enough to figure out what she was doing. Very nicely done. And you said Zoe/Simon didn't work.

Oh, so heartwrenchingly tender! Poor Zoe, needing some human contact, and not able to express that to anyone. And Simon's stronger and more perceptive than a lot of people give him credit for, especially in his own environment. I really liked how you said "he was his most vibrant within these walls" because it's so true. It will be interesting to see where you take this.

Can't say I care for "Zima" either, but hey, it's your pairing, call it what you want. *g*
