Christmas Memes

Dec 26, 2005 20:20

So this is my fanfic round up for 2005. And because I'm feeling self-centered and egotistical... and bored. And trying to procrastinate on writing... I'll throw in some memes too.

1) Tell me your favorite fic of mine and why? And I'll tell you what I was thinking when I wrote it.

2) Pick any fic, and I'll tell you what happened after "The End". ( Read more... )

Easy.

Trouble.

Short, sweet and it's the one I remember most often at weird, weird points in my day.

So... 1) and 2) for "Trouble"... HIT ME.

1) Hee, I was thinking about Heart of Gold. And how eager Jayne was to be with the whore, and then brushing her hair, and getting all cuddly in the morning. And I love Jayne and Kaylee...so I just applied that behavior to Kaylee...and voila.

2) After The End. She'd tell him it was a mistake, she was just feelin' lonely and it wouldn't happen again. Jayne would accept that, because what else can he do? She would avoid him for awhile, but she'd keep thinking about it, and thinking about it and watching Jayne. And Jayne would be watching her watching him. Tensions mount.

There would be a job... a close call, and after, Jayne and Kaylee would collide. Hot, wild sex would ensue daily there after. They would try and hide it from the rest of the crew, but they would know and pretend they didn't. Wash might make inneundo's that Jayne wouldn't understand, and Mal would be waiting for it to burn out. Jayne and Kaylee would act like it was all physical while slowly falling in love.

i have TWO, and neither should really surprise you.

2) All the Tools for the Job. *giggles helplessly*

of the longer stuff, and the other stuff, must to the rereading..

1) Oddly enough, the Mistletoe fic was going to be long and plot-y. Mal was going to be all Scrooge-y, and Kaylee was all Christmas-spirit, and Inara was fumbling over what to buy Mal for Christmas. And Jayne was just always going to be lurking under Mistletoe trying to get Kaylee to kiss him. It then morphed into a ficlet where Jayne wants ANYONE to kiss him, and River... it just felt natural that she would actually do it.

2) All the Tools for the Job. What happens after "The End"? Hee, the girls decide they need to hunt down the rest of the photos from the shoot. Unbeknownst to Mal; Kaylee, Inara, Zoe and River use their connections (and in River's case mind reading abilities) to contact the publisher and get the rest of the photos sent to them.

Okay, after some hemming and hawing. Surprisingly ( at least to me, since I'm not a big angst lover) I have to pick The End of all Things as the fav. but I think I know what you were thinking when you wrote that since I was sort of there... So instead, tell the one you want to tell that no one's asked. Or something you didn't tell m while writing it, either way.

AND because I live to give you a hard time, I want to know what happens after "The End" of Untitled Simon/Kaylee. :p

1) Hee, I have to agree. The End of All Things is still my favorite of all. I was definitely the most emotionally invested in that one. But since you were there every step of the way... I'll pick Disillusioned. It was one of my first Firefly fics. And when I started it, the only image I had was of Zoe soaked with Jayne's blood. And it developed from there into Jayne's love for this crew, and how hislove broke her. Because, that's what Firefly's all about, the complexities of the relationships between one character and another. If I was better at writing Zoe, I'd delve further into her feelings for the crew. 'Cause there's something deeper than loyalty to Mal that's keeping her there ( ... )

Ahh Disillusioned, I knew this one had a special place for you. I remember you writing it too. I liked it as well, and I agree with you about Zoe I have ideas on that myself. :p

2)!!! I could almost see that happening on the show! LOL

1) Augh, so many to choose from! @_@ I really loved Home and Hate and all of the Vignettes...actually, simply all of your K/J stuff is wonderful. I can't get enough of it. But I'm gonna have to say that my favorite was Pirates. A lot of stuff happened, it was such an involved read. I loved that you gave perspective to all the other characters aside from Jayne and Kaylee and gave them something to do. The whole story just worked. :3

2) Hmm, what about Pirates or Teatime? After either (or both, if you feel like talking. ^^) of these events, what would happen between those two, if anything?

1) Hee, Pirates was actually co-written with , I think while I was at work one day between rooming patients. The vignettes series was one of the first fics I wrote, so I was still struggling with the characters.

She has a huge thing for Wash, so we incorporated him as much as possible. What I was thinking when I wrote it? Mostly, that I was bored at work. And I wanted some of Jayne and Kaylee in a tense situation where they can bring out the best in eachother. I wanted Jayne protective...more protective than just a platonicly, and I wanted Kaylee to take some strength from Jayne, where she'd lost some of it with Early.

2) After Pirates Jayne stays in the engine room with Kaylee for as long as he can before she kicks him out to go to bed. I think Jayne would hover around Kaylee. Trying to be subtle so that she wont notice, but he's probably not as careful as he could be. There'd be angst, as he watched Kaylee and Simon get closer, but at the same time, he'd watch. Unable to look away. Bringing us up to Teatime where Inara finally ( ... )

Yessss, insight from the writer; that is exactly what I wanted. :)

Aww, poor Jayne indeed, that's very depressing. Still, it's true to the show and romantic in a tragic sort of way. I think I like that and can definitely believe it about their relationship. Thanks for sharing! :D

Dunno if you are still willing to tell what happens after the end, but here goes ( ... )

Of course I'm still willing.

1) What I was thinking when I wrote Bel Canto and Ain't No Soldier.

Bel Canto, I was just...rocked by the BDM. I wrote it because I think I needed the story, for myself. To solidify that two of their own may have fallen, but the crew still had each other. And even though Zoe was in the most pain, they all still felt it. And they were together. It was as much cathergic for the characters as it was for me.

Ain't No Soldier was imspired by another fic actually. I'm ashamed to admit I can't remember which one. As an aside, the author had Mal take Serenity back to War. Myself, I couldn't imagine Mal risking his ship and all the people on it for his own personal mission. I thought it made more sense for him to go on his own. And of course, Jayne would tag along. Because as he says, someone's gotta look after Mal's fool ass. Originally it was meant to be only one part, and then it kinda snowballed from there....to a dead end. I plan to come back to it, but as Jayne also says "What you plan and what happen ain' ( ... )

My you are quick to respond.

LOL Buttercup, hee! Jayne, Jayne, Jayne. Sweet.

Well, with regard to sequels to Ain't no Soldier, I just hope you write something, whether its in your plan or not. Because really, how else are those kids gonna learn 'less they are taught? And whoever would have thunk that Jayne could be a good teacher.

Good stories all around. I'm very pleased that I found your blog and your other stories. Thanks for taking the time to give some insight in to your writing.
