Day 16

Today we went to the park to watch Bede play ultimate frisbee. I didn't really understand the game but it certainly had lots of running around!

Afterwards we had brunch with the frisbee people and then headed out to do the tourist stuff.

First stop was the Seattle space needle. The view from the top was excellent because it was a clear day. There was a storm coming in so we took lots of photos of that.

The view of the city centre had a giant mountain behind it called Mt Rainer which looked just amazing. And on the other side was Lake Union.

All around the space needle were telescopes made by swarovski which were free to use. Usually you have to pay to use the telescopes on the top of observatories but these were free which was awesome. It's amazing the things you can see from that height.

Around one side, Bede pointed out his girlfriends house and also showed us where the Olympic sculpture park was.

We actually headed to the sculpture park next. Some of the scuptures didn't really impress me until I saw them from different angles.

There was one sculpture that was supposed to be a typewriter ribbon or something. To me, it looked like a decorated pizza cutter. It was kooky looking.

It actually wasn't until I saw it from the other side tht I actually really liked it. It still looked like a decorated pizza cutter but it looked like a RUNAWAY decorated pizza cutter that was taking off on it's own accord rolling down the hill!

After the sculpture park we went to the Pike street market which was such a sensory overload. There were heaps of people bustling about. All around me were colourful things to look at, fresh seafood stalls and fruit and vege stalls with things I had never seen before like giant garlic or pomegranites as big as my head!

Along with the distraction of coloured stalls and people everywhere was the tantalizing smell of food wafting from different directions. I could smell everything from fresh bread to cooked crabs. Absolutely divine. I love getting lost in markets, and Pike st markets were fantastic. I hope to go back before the trip is over!

For dinner that night we had Vietnamese at a place called the Green Leaf. Large portions of food and free green tea refills all night! It was amazing.

Usually I order pho but this time I ordered congee with duck and cabbage salad. I was not disappointed.

The congee came out in a giant steaming bowl with a perfect blend of spring onions and Ginger. It reminded me so much of the stuff my mum used to make when I was sick. You know ehhh you have those meals tht are the true epitomy of comfort food? That was this meal for me.

The duck andcabbage salad sounded interesting but I certainly wasn't expecting such a tasty meal. After the first mouthful I thought maybe I should have ordered a larger serve. Who would have thought cabbage could taste so good!!

Post dinner we went to a decadant dessert restaurant. We all crowded into their bar and I drank chocolate-based martinis for the rest of the night. They were like drinking an alcoholic chocolate cake!! My favourite martini was the cherry chocolate one. Mmmmmm can anyone say hangover!!!!
