So yesterday amidst the scorching heat, there was a protest from a few Christian zealots in a high traffic area on campus.
Needless to say it attracted a lot of attention, mainly people protesting their ideas (it seemed like anyway).
One of their banners had a list of "Satan's Children" and I saw the expected "homos & lesbos", "muslims" and the other usual bullcrap, but "buddhists" and "lazy christians"???
Fuck this. As Stanley would say,
"Game on."
First of all, what they think they could accomplish with a demonstration like that is beyond me.
I'm really glad that some people from the crowd made their own makeshift signs that said "say no to zealots" and "i'm an atheist and proud of it".
If everyone else were as ignorant as these people (can we still call them humans?), I'd be proud to be an atheist too.
And the best one: "Love thy neighbor~ Jesus".
Apparently the zealots were also throwing back quotes from the Bible in response to questions and comments.
Lets face it... a lot of controversies stem from misinterpretation or just plain unclarity of some of those passages.
It's not difficult to see how. I know. I've read some of it.
I think I might have missed the part that said "hate anyone and everyone different from you in any way" though.
I honestly think they wanted their "Satan's Children" list to be longer to include other races and every religion besides Christianity.
Is this how the KKK operates by daylight now? Hmm...
And you know, the way they were carrying on, shouting "glory to God" and whatnot, sound awfully familiar...
I believe those guys crashed their planes into our World Trade Center.
Ultimately, IT'S BECAUSE OF IGNORANT CREATURES LIKE THESE THAT WE STILL HAVE WARS!!!
I feel sorry for them... and for us.
p/s: of course, my physical science teacher had to walk by with thumbs up to the zealots...
p/p/s: it wasn't the mention of buddhists that got me to care... those zealots have always been disgusting to hate on anyone.
