i have not been remembering to use the journal feature on livejournal.

it is REALLY hard to write one of these posts when you actively want to not think about yourself.

so most of the last year and change i've blown studying how computers speak to each other. tricky stuff, for someone like myself, so i slipped into my usual obcessive focus and pretty much failed to spend any time with anyone. this was not the wisest of choices, since all my studying is currently a waste. i need to speak with the cap'n on if it's still viable to proceed on that front, but he's been incommunicado hisself. i've heard some stuff about it, but that's not really rumor worth spreading here.

jobhunting has been....listen, i'm smack in the middle of one of the most buttblasted areas of the inflated real estate scam crap. most businesses collapse under the weight of rent fairly quickly and the ones that don't are either not hiring or have far stiffer competition than their work/pay deserves. getting work is a fuckin' herculean trial for pedestrians with a screwy work record like me. i see more jobs i can't possibly get to reliably each day than i can safely remember without killing a guy.

i personally haven't done much. i've played videogames, but really that counts for nil, especially considering i rarely get to play with any of my friends. my fault, really. haven't kept in touch for that. as for the games themselves....

TF2: still fun, at the point where average servers are too full of stupid for me. sad day....
Borderlands 2: good stuff, kinda wish i'd gotten the DLC on sale and i hope i'll find a way to afford the next one. there's a lot of good dark humor in this game.
Mechwarrior online: simply put a bad game. they're claiming they're still working on it, but i don't see much progress. still play a couple rounds a week, still infuriatingly cumbersome, still based on one of my favorite things. rrgh.
super smash bros.: isn't out yet, so i pre-ordered it. i haven't pre-ordered a game in a LONG time.....

if you're not living in california, there's a drought. like, tank-girl desert wasteland roving bandits that will kill you for your moisture approaching drought. part of it's apparently that nestle and a couple other bottling companies illegally siphoning off aquafiers through reservation lands to avoid scrutiny, so there's whole levels of evil involved here. the important bit is that there hasn't been any real rain in about a year or more. things are in a bad way.....

well, i guess with this lull in my plans i can give a shot at computer modeling some stuff i wanted to try out. if i don't suck at it i might be able to try to get some money out of it....
